The smartest atheists always come off looking dumb when they talk about Christ and religion.

They don't hold a candle to CS Lewis who was once like them, but unlike them he was intelligent and wise enough to think beyond the tip of his nose.

When life doesn't go my way, I'm just grateful that I never had to hang on a cross.

I don't know how I would have made it without my faith. And I do believe my faith makes my life more abundant and enjoyable.

So, Jesus certainly has His place in today's world. But to each...his own.

Acts 5: Ananias, with his wife Sapphira - committed fraud and large scale social deception against God. Did God sit down and sing kumbaya with them?

Acts 5:5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
Matthew 9:13

But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

1 Timothy 1:15

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.

Matthew 21:31-32
Which of the two did the will of his father?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. / For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

Luke 15:7
I tell you that in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent.

Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

John 3:17
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Romans 2:4
Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?

Is the LGBTQ sin worse than say the Pharisees? Geez, I am one of the few Catholics here. I thought you Baptist were all about that there is no stratification of sin. The gay persons speck in the eye is not any worse than the plank in yours? Maybe Francis took more of this view, than say Doc's or Shooters they are all going to hell... According to the Bible, they will hold a seat for us all there. Just saying...

Is not about degrees or levels of sinfulness.
As the passages you quoted reveal, the key is repentance.
If someone repents, then they turn from their sin. We all know and have experienced the fact that it doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes there can be a lifelong struggle to turn from the sins of our past. Sometimes people struggle with certain sins for years. The point is to fight the good fight and never give up on the truth.

However it's not possible to claim to follow Christ while also claiming pride & identity in your sins. That's not repentance.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp.

Yes.

You may now worship golden idols again. Highly recommend the one in front of Trump Gaza
“Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.” (The Law, p.6) Frederic Bastiat

Interesting that in all of this citing of scripture nobody has mentioned the Sermon on the Mount.

Isn't James an explanation of the Sermon on the Mount?

What part of that sermon was hard for you to understand?

Some people do not understand that pride itself is a sin. In fact, it's one of the 7 Deadly Sins of Proverbs 6. In fact it is the first one listed:

"There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."
Proverbs 6:16-19
“Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!”

Thanks for posting that verse, it's one we all would do well to keep in mind, especially in these days of online barfights.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. I've never heard that view before. I think James includes some different topics.

I love how people provide quotes from a book written by humans that are based on stories passed down orally until they were finally written down over 100 years after Jesus died. I'm sure there was nothing changed in those stories after 100 years of playing the telephone game.

/s

1. Holy Spirit inspired writers to
2. Written Letters / manuscripts to
3. Canon

The New Testament was not written 100 years after Jesus's death. Maybe the last was written 60+ years after, but none close to 100.
Holy Spirit inspired? *** does that mean? When we are told to believe god gives us all free will and bad things happen to good people because god doesn't interfere in our daily lives, but he broke that rule to help write the NT? Cut the bull****, it was a book written by men that wanted their new religion to catch on, decades after Jesus died. It's why there are so many contradictory accounts of very important events within the NT. Again, written by humans, that are flawed and make mistakes.
They wanted their new religion to take off so they could risk martyrdom?

That's backwards: first century Christians believed in God so deeply they were willing to risk martyrdom. I don't think anyone really wants that but some get it anyway. It was a test of sorts and many demonstrated amazing faith. Same for Christians in all eras since. Foxes Book of Martyrs tells some of their stories.
