This actually happened to me on a SWA flight at Midway about 15 years ago. We touched down, started to break, then suddenly the airplane throttled up and we were wheels up.

After we circled, the pilot finally told us that another airplane had crossed in front of us on the runway. To avoid it, we took off again.

New York two years ago for me. We were 200 feet off the ground when we started going back up. We were just told we had to go around. Pilot never said why.

I think it is just the media attention right now.

There are always some sort of plane incidents happening, whether airline or small plane, it is just reported on a lot right now.

It also seems like more because of cell phones/cameras than it did before smart phones.

I have a friend who is a flight instructor that posts a lot about different airplane incidents and there are always some for him to post every week or two, but most months or even years the incidents don't get much news coverage unless it is sensational, people die or funny like hitting a moose while taxing.

Are we ready to celebrate that we have been hiring Didn't Earn Its instead of the most qualified air traffic controllers?
