I'd argue the issue from a different angle though. 95% of all prisoners in the US are released. 69% of people imprisoned for a violent offense are rearrested within five years of release and about 1/3 of them are rearrested for another violent offense within those five years. That's a huge problem.

Not a fan of the softening of prisons. They need to be nasty, scary places like CECOT. Make them NOT want to come back. And put these guys to work, in return for housing and feeding them.

Agreed. That is why I propose swapping Minnesota for Alberta. There's something to gain for both sides. We would no longer have Hamm's beer taking up shelf space and the Canadian boys would get free access to tampons in their restrooms.
