This right here is why this is happening. Politicians have got to stop going into the spotlight and spreading dangerous lies.

People think it's righteous to fight against fascism and when you convince those people that the government is fascist…they're going feel justified in carrying out violence toward it.

That is shocking. I'm sure glad no one on this board ever used such terroristic language.

As individuals I totally agree we shouldn't use such inflammatory language that could easily incite violence.

However, if someone here says it, nobody really cares and 12 guys on a message board sees it and it contributes to a circular arguement that goes nowhere.

If a Gov. Newsom says it, millions of people are influenced by it and hear it, and millions more cling to every word he says as if he is the authoirty on the subject.

No top level elected official should use such infalmmatory language, that includes both major parties.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with calling out authoritarianism.

We agree on this. But where were you during the 4 years of the Biden admin, as multiple political prosecutions and censoring and de-platforming of conservative voices were taking place?

I was right here, evaluating each of those issues case by case, agreeing with some of Biden's decisions and disagreeing with others, the same as I do with Trump.

Yeah, I don't think so. I recall very few disagreements with Biden's actions in this area. I don't recall a single word about the deplatforming or censorship. I recall one critical comment on one of the cases against Trump but you pretty much said the rest were are valid. The censoring of conservative thought was absolutely rampant and you said very little.

This is a bit of revisionist history on your part.

I really couldn't care less. "Where were you when…" is a childish argument. And you rewriting history just tells me it's another day ending in "y."

The biggest hurdle you're facing here is the fact everyone else has a memory that spans longer than 1 year.

He'll quibble over some minute detail and claim you got it wrong, when the gist is completely accurate. Classic Sam Lowry. Such a fraud.

It's just ironic coming from a self-described conservative. You behave as anything but, yet like to pretend that's exactly what you are. Hell, you even buy the ridiculous trope that conservatives are white supremacists, as you suggested the other day. You sound like Jasmine Crockett.

I'd submit you should drop the pretenses and facades.

Or maybe you should drop the pretense that white supremacists are conservative.

I don't think he was a white supremacist. That's why he was beginning to distance himself from the genocide. It's not too late, by the way. You could still land on the right side of history, if just barely.

As for Israel, I am curious what you'd like to see happen. I understand you prefer that Israel not wipe out Hamas entirely, since Hamas hides itself among the civilian population and targeting of same constitutes "genocide" in your book. What else? Two state solution? Or just let the Palestinians have the land and Israel move somewhere else? Wipe Israel off the map entirely?

I'd be fine with wiping out Hamas and establishing two states. It won't happen, because Hamas is a key asset of the US and Israel.

Ever the conspiracy theorist. LOL.

Anyone that proposes a two-state solution isn't serious about trying to achieve peace. It simply will not work, as you should well know. Palestinians support Hamas and are well pleased by its massacres. Allowing what is essentially a terrorist organization whose goal is the destruction of Israel a nation state will in no way achieve peace until the terrorist organization relinquishes its stated goal and lays down arms. But we both know that will never happen because Hamas is a key asset of Iran, and other nation states in the region and abroad that would love to see Israel wiped off the map. Who in their right mind would inflict the ensuing bloodshed on their partners, children, friends, and parents? No sane or rational person.

I'd be fine with wiping out Hamas and establishing two states. It won't happen, because Hamas is a key asset of the US and Israel.

How is Hamas a key asset?

It's not, but when you believe America and Israel (and the West in general) are almost always the bad guy, and their enemies (i.e. Russia, Iran, etc.) are the good guys fighting "just wars" and what not, these are the kind of conspiracy rabbit holes you fall into.

We've seen numerous examples of this mindset as of late on what I call the Woke Right - people like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens who believe the US and the Jews are responsible for the world ills.

Israel would wipe out Hamas tomorrow if it was able.

You so often lie about your previous positions, I am sure it's difficult to remember what you said. Nothing I said was false.

LOL. Sure thing.

Was Charlie Kirk starting to renounce white supremacy or not? Was he a white supremacist or not?

I don't think he was a white supremacist. That's why he was beginning to distance himself from the genocide. It's not too late, by the way. You could still land on the right side of history, if just barely.

Ah, so he wasn't a white supremacist himself, but was just distancing himself from the white supremacists that comprise the Republican Party? Is that right?

As for Israel, I am curious what you'd like to see happen. I understand you prefer that Israel not wipe out Hamas entirely, since Hamas hides itself among the civilian population and targeting of same constitutes "genocide" in your book. What else? Two state solution? Or just let the Palestinians have the land and Israel move somewhere else? Wipe Israel off the map entirely?

I've heard "2 state solution" for about 40 years. 1 problem.....those 40 years seem to indicate that a 2 state solution doesn't work. BTW, did America go for a "2 state solution" following the civil war? If not, why not?

Bumpkin on a Baylor message board v. Governor of CA on national TV?

If Baylorfans is now the standard, we are in trouble. I'd submit your bar must be pretty low.

I will also note that there haven't been a rash of rightwing murderers and assassins as of late. I also don't recall any burning, looting or murdering following Kirk's death, unless of course you count the looting of Charlie Kirk memorials...

Did you not read the post he replied to? It was about convincing people the government, and politicians, are fascists, and that it's predictable that someone might want to do something violent to oppose fascism.

How is Hamas a key asset?

The Israelis helped establish Hamas as a counter to the Palestinian Authority, and they continued to support it at least until 10/7. Netanyahu rejected proposals to strike Hamas preemptively and eliminate it as a military force. Keeping the Palestinians under divided rule, with one of the ruling parties deemed a terrorist organization, gives Israel an excuse to belittle negotiations and avoid a two-state solution.

Quote:

In 2015, Bezalel Smotrich, currently the finance minister in Netanyahu's government, summed up the strategy by stating, "The Palestinian Authority is a burden. Hamas is an asset."
