The United States Treasurer says that this is a real thing, though the design isn't yet official.
Don't get upset about a coin that will never see circulation.
Yeah, you're probably right. The more I think about it, the more this seems a troll job.
If so, they got me.
No problem.
It traps me too on occasion.
And with AI disinformation increasingly difficult to discern…..,discovering the truth will become almost impossible.
Discussion, come in peace post about fake news.
Just curious. So, something being reported on Reuters, AP, CNN Business and in interviews with Bissent never really happened?
Just trying to determine how you decide something is fake when it is being reported by multiple, even non-US, news agencies? This one for example, there is nothing out there showing it to be a ruse as you state. Even the fact check only is able to confirm White House didn't put it out there. Do you have a timely source?
Seriously, usually I check Reuters, BBC, Forbes for Business. Most "Fact Checks" are done well after the fact or news cycle. I found one that explained what happened, after a search only due to your comments. Would not have looked without your comments and if I did it is well after the initial discussions.
So, where do you check for timely fact checks?
I get your point, as there are numerous laws in effect. The next US President will be Jimmy Carter based on the 2005 law.
LOL you're the ruse.
Again, the facts: The coin in question is not being proposed for the Presidential series. It is a commemorative issue for the 250th anniversary of our independence next year. Per multiple sources, it has not been approved (which by clear implication suggests it is part of a number of design contenders). So it is not in circulation, not in production, and may never be in production. We do not even know whether or not it is being proposed as a single coin issue or one of several in a series of coins all focused on the 250th celebration, which will be a one-time run, not an "in the lineup" issue like the Presidential Series. Finally, there is precedent for living individuals being featured on special-run coinage, so the entire premise of your outrage is baseless, from appetite to arsehole. What we do know is that there will be some 250th coins next year and one of them might feature Trump & the "fight, fight, fight" incident as an example of American Exceptionalism, which would be neither illegal nor outlandish. Like it or not, that photo of him standing with a bloody ear and shaking his fist in Butler PA will be remembered for centuries as an iconic piece all-American badassery.
There just isn't a scandal here, no matter how hard his critics may try to create one.
It's merely the latest example of critics of the Orange Man showing more megalomania than the Orange Man hisself.
Here you go again. It has not been approved because it is illegal. It did not stop him from having a "commemorative design" made and "floated" out to the media. This is not about something that won't happen, it is about a pattern, a dangerous pattern of control. He floats ideas to push Executive power and then has people like you push that it has not been approved and you can't comment until it is. It is a power move.
Just like his troops in the Cities, he will keep pushing his "plenary power" until he finds a way to make it stick, see Steven Miller interview. Same with Bondi yesterday, she never answered the question by Congressional oversight, she hurled an insult back. And you guys cheer... These are all power moves testing the boundaries. At least in his 1st term he had real advisors, trading McMasters and Mattis for Hegswoth is ridiculous. Mnuchin wanted to keep the economy growing, not blow it up like Bessent. Kelly for Miller? Keep cheering.
Watch, it the GOP loses seats in the midterm, you will be saying the election was stolen...
Bondi yesterday was a new low. We have to all demand that oversight become a give and take. It's painful for the the person in the seat but a necessary evil.
Congress cannot be the enemy.

If you don't want to be treated like the enemy, don't act like the enemy
We've had Congressional hearings where we mistreated Nazi's?
I hope the Dems weren't mean to the big booty Eva Braun.
