To say he is referring to the Jews as a whole is an interpretive leap; God is talking to Abraham directly right here, the text does not explicitly say "Jews".

So to you, God was promising to bless the Muslims.

No, dumbass. Back to your Foxnews now.

Well, I don't watch Fox News, so you are 0 for 2 now.

And by the way, the obvious reason YHWH did not refer to 'the Jews' when speaking to Abraham, is that at that moment the people Abraham would father were in the future.

It's quite a take to pretend God somehow didn't mean Abraham's legitimate successors.

No, he was promising his son, our savior Jesus Christ and all of those who accept him are the chosen. The ones who reject him are lost and the pharisees are of their father the devil.

I never said it wasn't, pay attention. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy.

You people champion a plain interpretation of Scripture but only follow it when it fits your narrative. At face value it says Abraham, you're adding the rest.

Not at all: God repeated the covenant with Abraham's descendants multiple times and even said it was forever. It's very clear that it is still valid when reading God's plans for Israel as prophesied in the Book of Revelation. Those prophecies have not yet been fulfilled but there is no doubt that God's plan will develop exactly as He wants it to.

On one level it is very simple: God will send to hell every person who rejects His Son. When Jesus said He was the only way to get to heaven, He meant it:

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" John 14:6

However, that refers to individuals. Every single human since then is bound by it. Each person must choose or reject Christ. God did not condemn all Jews or the nation of Israel as a whole.

Even when they were punished by allowing Babylon to conquer them and send them into exile, God promised a restoration after 70 years and even prophecies in advance that Cyrus of Persia would do that. And again, when God decreed the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem (the Romans did that in AD 70) He also prophesied the restoration which took place in 1947 with the establishment of the modern state of Israel.

Throughout history, God's blessings and curses have been applied to nations based upon their treatment of His chosen people (Jews & Christians): Romans, Ottomans, British, and the US are some examples.

Christ never preached hatred towards anyone. And he certainly never taught anyone to hate Jews since He was one Himself. He told us to love our neighbor as ourself.

And if any group of people is satanic, it's those who go against God's teachings, especially those who abuse scripture to promote lies (ie Talarico).

Catholics have unscriptural positions on a lot of things. This is but another. I'd be surprise if more than a small percentage end up in heaven.

Hard to reconcile Romans 9 and 11 with replacement theology. The truth is Christians are chosen by God but he still has a plan for his chosen people. Paul is very clear on that.

You don't have to be god to realize many of the Catholics positions are unscriptural. You just need a Bible and the ability to read, not divine revelation.

As for replacement theology, I was responding to muddys interpretation of the Catholic position on the Jews. I know many Catholics who hold his position. It may not be the official position of the Catholic Church but boy do a lot of you subscribe to it.

He dismantles your tree branch theory @ 5:05

So, I watched what the guy said at 5:05 and listened for another 3 minutes, and don't disagree with a word of what he says. What I am trying to figure out is how that destroys the "tree branch theory" or whatever you believe that to be, or how that dismantles any of my positions?

The dude is correct that the "remnant" spoken about at the beginning of Romans 11 consists of Jews who have believed in Christ. However, later in Romans, Paul expressly distinguishes the believing remnant from "the rest," who "were blinded" (vv. 5-7), and then turns his attention to those very unbelieving Jews. He says their stumbling is not final (v. 11), they can be grafted back into their own olive tree (v. 23), their blindness is only "in part" and lasts "until" the fullness of the Gentiles (v. 25), and even in their present hostility to the gospel they remain "beloved for the fathers' sakes" because God's gifts and calling are irrevocable (vv. 28-29).

So the question isn't whether the remnant consists of believing Jews. It does. The question is what Paul says about "the rest," the unbelieving Jews. And anyone familiar with Romans 11 knows that it plainly does not say God is finished with them.' Indeed, it says just the opposite.

So I am not sure you know what you're talking about.

So I am not sure you know what you're talking about.

You always conveniently leave this part out.

You should challenge that guy to a debate about why Christians are theologically called to support the modern secular state of Israel... it would be a fascinating watch.

Based? Looks like you're aligned with your German ancestors, call it the Fourth Reich!

They're comparing me to the Tzar, Charlemagne, and St Thomas Aquinas.

God damn... you wrecked me on autocracy, assimilation, and security... you are ruining my reputation around here!

Well, thats where i differ from you and mothra. I believe that the chosen are those who accept Christ. He came as prophesied and those who followed him are the chosen and are grafted in. If thats the catholic interpretation then count me in as part of the one holy catholic and apostolic church. I think alot of you evangelicals are brainwashed by the Rothschild state of satanic Israel.

Low iq post. You're confidently attacking a position you know nothing about. Catholics don't believe in replacement theology, in fact they have a more liberal view on Jews than you do.

Check yourself and your ego, you're not God, stop speaking on behalf of him as though you have the authority to declare who is and isn't saved. You don't even know the positions of the people you're damning.

Except I don't. The "remnant" referenced by Paul has ALWAYS been believing Jews. I've never disputed that or suggested otherwise. Sounds like you need to read a little closer.

The part you conveniently leave out is the latter half of Chapter 11, which as explained above, deals with non-believing Jews. And as pointed out above, God clearly still has a plan for them and calls us to love them. That much is crystal clear in Paul's writings.

As for supporting modern day Israel, I've never argued Christians are theologically called to support it, though I think there are a myriad of good reasons to do so, within reason.

Interesting website.

My results were National Liberalism.

Among politicians and philosophers, looks like I am closest to Churchill and Cicero.

That may be the best such test I have seen.

My result
