On the plus side, you get good and talented people from other nations.
On the down side, it brings tremendous costs to health care, education, social services, etc.
It pushes down wages.
It inflates housing costs.
An economist could never do a real study for fear of being called names but I am sure we should continue to encourage it.
We live in very confusing times. In one breath, our President promises to bring back bazillion jobs back to the U.S. and in another says our current available workforce in the U.S. is unskilled and underqualified.
Now sounds like a great opportunity to take advantage of free and fair trade. Economies of scale, comparative advantage, and all that other Economics 101 stuff.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!
