Are we at the point where immigration has become a net negative?

On the plus side, you get good and talented people from other nations.

On the down side, it brings tremendous costs to health care, education, social services, etc.
It pushes down wages.
It inflates housing costs.

An economist could never do a real study for fear of being called names but I am sure we should continue to encourage it.

Retail immigration can strengthen a nation.

Wholesale immigration of culturally and religiously unaligned people groups always weakens it.

We are well past the point that immigration is a net positive. I would be in favor of ending all immigration for ten years with a carve out for spouses of US citizens and possibly billionaires who agree to form a company in the US and hire 100 citizens and keep them on the payroll for a decade.

We live in very confusing times. In one breath, our President promises to bring back bazillion jobs back to the U.S. and in another says our current available workforce in the U.S. is unskilled and underqualified.

Now sounds like a great opportunity to take advantage of free and fair trade. Economies of scale, comparative advantage, and all that other Economics 101 stuff.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

Only if the US constitution continues to be abrogated as far as specifying only very limited functions as federal matters is concerned. There isn't a word, or even an idea, in that document about healthcare, social services, or education, which can only be added through amendment, of which none yet exists. Not saying they can't be, just that they have not been, as much as many want to pretend they have, or simply ignore the document, whichever gets the desired result.

Are we at the point where water flow has become a net negative?

On the plus side, you get good cooking, hygiene and sanitation from water resources.

On the down side, it brings mosquitoes, disease and water damage.

A plumber could do a study, maybe design some kind of valve that would control the flow.

I guess there is some movement towards retail immigration with the gold card. I think we want some controlled immigration. Take people that will be a net positive to society. Ones that have similar moral values and want to integrate. Biden let in anyone, including criminals (some countries literally emptied their prisons and sent them here). That cannot happen again. Ever.

There are no such things are Native Americans Einstein. Everyone migrated here. The "first" migrants to what is known as America likely were wiped out by the second and the second the third, etc.

Take a history class. Become educated.

Part Irish part Cherokee.

Suprised to hear there are no longer any native Americans. The history books must have all been wrong and changed now. Can you point to a link that says there is no such people as native Americans? I asked my grankids and they are still being taught that native Americans were the people that were enjoyng life here before the evil white men showed up. Thanks in advance.

If there is any truth to stereotypes, most of your post can now be explained as drunk posting.

It's all becoming more clear.

Yep. It's highly likely that the ancient ancestors of the people referred to as "Native Americans" (formerly known as "Indians") migrated from Asia across the Bering Strait. So if you go back far enough, they aren't really "native" Americans either.

Of course, way past time. Just look around, unfettered immigration has many negatives.
Only bring highly skilled, value add. Limit the numbers so your own population can adjust.

' Native Americans ' are immigrants as well.

The land was fought over for thousands of years between various waves of newcomers. The losers were slaughtered, enslaved or banished.

All long before the Europeans ever reached the continent.

It's almost like some people never got an education.

The entire rebranding of American Indians as these peaceful vegetarians is funny and sad but speaks to the Orwellian propaganda so many actually believe. Of course, they don't know "which button to push" sweating "Africa is the cradle of civilization" or "there were native Americans."

In fairness most folks never read about our history.

They are completely absorbed in the present.

So they are susceptible to any falsehoods posted on the internet from any source.

' Native Americans ' were no better or worse than the Europeans.

In that they conquered the land by force of arms and lost it through force of arms

And relatively soon we will lose the land in a similar manner.

Sadly and tragically most people who go through our wonderful dumbed down public education system come out either woefully ignorant about our country's history, or they come out indoctrinated that the main thing you need to know is America is historically an oppressive, racist nation illegitimately founded by evil white Europeans. Huge contributing factor to why there are so many stupid voters and their numbers keep proliferating.
