In my neighborhood today was the worst for ice. I think everything that melted a little in the sun and higher temps refrozen on top of the snow/sleet on the ground. It looks like snow but is one big ice sheet on the ground and roads.

Several DFW area districts have already announced closing tomorrow. I had no idea the impacts would stretch so far into the week.

That is Brown Blvd in North Arlington. I loved the hilly rural feel it had 40 years ago when I moved there.

I had an apartment on the second floor facing the hills and it looked like the hill country.

I used to have a high quality 12 speed when I was 24, and decided to go really fast down that hill once. About the time I hit 53 mph I realized that was a mistake. Way to fast. I am grateful I did not crash at that speed.

I would never ever attempt to drive a car down that hill in the ice. I believe it lists as a 17-degree incline down that hill.

This is what my neighborhood looked like in 21. Maybe not as bad as this video but pretty close. Just a layer of ice on everything.

2 teen girls riding a sled pulled by a car hit a tree with their sled and sustained life threatening injuries. Horrible.

Both have passed away.

Waco had an ice storm that bad back on New Year's Day 1979. Lots and lots of trees down. Austin Ave. was blocked in multiple places by limbs completely across the roadway between downtown and Waco Dr.

I should have clarified. This is what my neighborhood in the Waco area looked like in 21. Not as bad but really close with the layer of ice on everything.

Waco had an ice storm in the mid70s that had trees breaking all over town.

It was a Sunday morning and we were getting ready to go to church. When we went outside we found our Arizona Ash laid across the drive blocking the car in. My dad and I, in our suits, grabbed the chainsaw and started to work as KWTX came by taping the damage around town. We were the best dressed tree removal team in town.
