I'm not trying to make Trump "look better". I merely gave the important context that was lacking almost everywhere you read about this story. An honest, fair-minded person would make room in their brain for the possibility that this was a very unfortunate oversight, rather than simply knee-jerking a response. A lot of people, yourself likely included, didn't even know the context because they didn't even bother to watch the video for themselves and just swallowed the media's narrative wholesale. The video remained up for hours after it was reported, because as I've already said, Trump was too proud to correct himself. He hates to admit he made a mistake. That's a big fault of his.

I might feel different if this was coming from some yahoo on Twitter rather than the president, but I'm not yet past the point of believing a president should act presidential. I think we've become desensitized to it during the Trump years.

I don't think any racial motivations were in play but when you think about tropes and you're the president or someone who handles his Twitter account, you need to be more mindful about how badly this looks, as well as the racial overtones.

It's yet another unforced error and Democrat talking point.
