Military has lost significant leadership under Hegseth. Driscoll just left. He and George were leading the "modernization" efforts based on what was learned in Ukraine.

Any time we have overly political military leadership that removes a lot of commanding officers you have to wonder who is being served? An ego or the American people?

That aside, I am not going to follow this as much anymore. I would like to be up to date, and I don't want to lapse into apathy, but indeterminable unjustifiable Middle East wars will melt anyone's brain.

We should all be outraged, but life is too short to be outraged as often as following this administration would require. Not about to be an insufferable bootlicker either.

Not that Pete Hegseth is in any way a George Marshall, but here is some food for thought:

"WHAT WAS GEN. GEORGE MARSHALL'S SECRET?
"There are no bad soldiers only bad generals" Napoleon.
The book The Generals by Thomas Ricks struck such a chord with me on the topic of leadership and team building, that I feel compelled to share the key points of the book. With the global political crisis looming in September of 1939, General George C. Marshall received a clear directive from FDR. His mission was to build a world class army, and fast. He inherited a feeble ill-equipped army of 190,000 troops. Many of the officers were holdover veterans from WWI waiting to retire. What was the first step he took knowing he had to build a giant Army 40x its current size? He fired 600 officers, keeping only 11 of 43 Generals. He created a preferred leader profile and objectively removed those leaders who were risk averse, plodding, or lacking the energy, passion and skills needed to perform at the topmost level."

The Gulf War: we achieved our objective of liberating Kuwait. The aftermath was messy but also a separate issue. They had failed to plan for a quick victory.

Well that can be tricky since we haven't been in a declared war since WW2.

But we did win multiple "military actions" like the Persian Gulf, Panama, Grenada, etc.

The U.S. has had only 5 declared wars in our history: 1812, Mexico, Spain, & the two World Wars.

Poverty? Measles?

The War on Poverty was a huge failure. After many trillions of taxpayer dollars spent on various socialist programs, poverty as just as bad if not worse and too many people are stuck in a multigenerational rut caused by the govt. But it is all relative since America's "poor" have many luxuries that rich people elsewhere don't have.

We will have to wait to see if thrir is a correction to that report. Usually when the media repeats terrorist propaganda (whether from Hamas or Iran) it does not take long for the truth to come out.

We gave Measles back under RFK Jr... Sort of like Iran, so we can win again.

RFK had nothing to do with bringing millions of illegals, many of whom had measles, TB, and other diseases the US had eradicated long ago.

Price for a gallon of regular gasoline near me (Austin area) shot up from $3.42 on Monday to $3.79 yesterday. Your chart ends on 8/20, so the reality is actually significantly worse than what it portrays.

It sucks, but America has become so soft and coddled that I think we truly need to experience the first-hand consequences of electing such incompetent and corrupt leadership to finally wake up. Even some of the 3-time Trump voters in here are starting to get it, but a majority of them are still stuck in la-la-land.

If we hadn't had the Vax fear mongering we would not have this problem. Go talk to actual infectious disease doctors, not NewsMax. We have this problem because people stopped vaccinating their kids, not because we have illegals.

The idiots that went on the anti-vaccination rants over circumstantial or antidotal evidence rather than actual science. Ot worse go around saying that the CDC and others are "Fake News"

That's laughable compared to Pres Autopen. There wasn't any competence anywhere in that administration.

More importantly, unlike most presidents (either party) Trump put America first and delivered on his promises. Is incompetence in a politician keeping promises your definition of incompetence?

As for known targets from the Iranian response, which saw an initial ballistic missile wave target US bases in Jordan, some of the following has emerged:

  • Camp Titin & Prince Hassan Base (Jordan): ballistic strikes.
  • Erbil Bases (Iraq): Combined missile/drone.
  • Ali Al Salem (Kuwait): HQs & drone ramps hit.
  • US Naval Base (Bahrain): Casualties & destroyed aircraft reported.

Autopen didn't destroy the budget, get us bombed out of the Middle East, purge the military, sleep in press conferences, all while pooping his pants.

True... he just destroyed the budget by spending in unnecessary areas, left the Middle East/Afghanistan with our tail between our legs, kicked out competent military leaders while promoting mentally ill DEI candidates, slept in press conferences, speeches, etc and pooped his pants while wandering around lost because he didn't know where to go or what to say that wasn't on a teleprompter.

The point is that a president who does nothing but sleep is better than one who actively tries to destroy the economy and instigates unnecessary wars. Given the choice between happy dementia and grumpy dementia, happy is better.

I prefer almost anything to Trump. He is corrupt. He is anti-democracy. He is inept. He is a misogynist. He is a racist. He is a profligate spender. He has done the country more damage than 10 Bidens, which is really saying something.
