This makes me feel a lot better about Vance and Bessent. Tulsi has NEVER been a fan of forever wars on the other side of the world. Would not be surprised to see her step down in the coming weeks.

LOL I wouldn't put much stock in his comments. A Director of CounterTerrorism in a civilian agency has no need to know be involved in oversight of a military operation. Guarantee you he was not at the WH the night the bombing started.

Listened to Joe Kent's interview with Tucker Carlson the other day. The guy is very well spoken and did not diss Trump, although he had the right to. Class act. Trump has unleashed the hounds of Hell on him for not toeing the company line. Hannity, Fox News, and the DOJ. Hilarious that Trump claims to want to eliminate the weaponization of the justice system. He may be the worst offender before all is said and done.

Gavin Newsome is well-spoken, too. It's the substance that matters.

Kent has gone so far down the isolationism rabbit hole that he's now blaming Israel for all of our foreign policy problems, literally excusing the actions of an Iranian regime which has killed more Americans than any other while consistently pursuing nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Iran has admitted to having enough 60% uranium to produce 11 nuclear weapons. If true, that would put them weeks/months away from nuclear capability. (the speed of enrichment process, as a matter of physics, accelerates over time.) They have demonstrated via use this week to have long-range ballistic weapons proven capable of reaching out 4000km. The next leap is intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of striking us.

And of course, we have INDICTED two individuals involved in an assassination plot against Trump. Sorry. You try to kill a former US president running for re-election......you deserve to get your country turned into a parking lot guarded by the US military. Of course, that is hard work. But never fear, there will always be someone who seeks to avoid doing the job by insisting Israel is responsible for all of our foreign policy problems. Blaming Israel makes all foreign policy problems so very simple. Just cut $3b in aid to Israel. Let the Arabs overrun the country and send the Jews all into exile somewhere. And....voila.....the birds sing and the rainbow gleams while the whole world sings in perfect harmony the chords of a just and lasting peace. Selah, selah...as the rastas would say

Isolationism first & foremost is intellectual laziness....an attempt to define away problems rather than dealing with them.
Anti-semitism is the same thing with a little touch of genocide mixed in for effect.

With all due respect, it is Trump that has isolated himself and our country from the rest of the Western world. He looks up, and suddenly we have no friends. I do believe that Israel has more power and influence over the United States. I'm just not sure why the little country of 10 million people is able to dictate the foreign policy of the United States. Not sure why we can't seem to any longer tell Israel NO. Something has changed. Not sure what.

Again "it's the Jews" nonsense. Complete reversal of cause/effect.

It is in our interest for Iran to NOT have nuclear weapons.
It is in our interest for Iran to NOT have ballistic missiles.
It is in our interest for Iran to NOT run terror proxies that kill our citizen.
(I could go on with that list for a while.)

That Israel also has those same interests does not mean that Israel has hornswoggled us. It means we have common interests ergo are close allies. To prove that our, all you have to do is remove Israel from the ndp and run the permutations again. If you do that, nothing changes. The list above is still the list.

Isolationism is intellectual laziness of the highest order. Antisemitism just adds a negative moral factor to it.

Is it in our interests not to be the proxy?

This war has turned everything you said about Ukraine (which I agreed) on its head. We are the proxy. We are the one using resources. We are the ones escalating to boots on the ground for others. We do not receive enough resources from this area to take this type of hit.

LOL pull your head out. We are the sponsor. We pay Israel to be our proxy. And more than any other ally we have, they deliver. They've done half the strikes in Iran. Not since WWIi have we had an all-in partner like that.

Unless the mullah regime survives (unlikely), we will have Iran as a new ally. That gives us the ability to interdict Chinese oil supplies without firing a shot. Without weighing a single anchor. Via "diplomacy."

You know all that. Why the troll nonsense?

We are about to have a new ally, Iran? And you are wondering what someone else is smoking? Check your own mouth first, you will find BULLSHEEEET.

You are so incredibly stupid.

After we destroyed Japan…they became and remain one of our strongest and most reliable allies in Asia.

Until recently….the same applied to Germany.

Iran was once a friend of the United States and could possibly become one again.
Afghanistan was also a modern Western ally pre-Taliban. But after decades of executions, expulsions, and extremist ideology that reshaped and reoriented society and culture, the road back is impossible to see. Iran is in a not too dissimilar position. Japan gave up their Imperialist ideals. Iran isn't giving up Islamism.

Japan gave up their emperor deity.

The majority of people in Iran will gladly give up the cruel reign of their mullah's.
We don't yet have a weapon capable of killing Allah. There simply is no comparison.

No one attempted to get rid of the Shinto religion either.

Just the deity status of the emperor.

We do not need to get rid of Allah…..just the despotic rule of the mullah's.

Iran could certainly return to a more secular version of Islam.

As was Iran under the Shah.

In any case Whiterock is not wrong. There is a chance Iran could become an ally of the United States .

It's happened with other of our past enemies.

We are allies with many despotic Islamist regimes. But instead of shaking hands with the devil, we've gone to war with him with an objective some of you are championing that we can convert him to an angel. I'm only saying take that part off the table and bask in the decimation of the nuclear program and a good portion of their military hardware.

And I don't think you know what's been happening in Turkey, or what the Iranian underbelly was and is.

" At this point, which is it: is Iran collapsing and have we won (for the third or fourth time); or are they a dangerous threat to the very existence of the free world and we need $200 billion more in defense (ha) spending to keep the war going? They can't be both."

Sure it can.

Ever hear of the Battle of the Bulge? It was a desperate effort by a German military which was badly losing the war, but if it had succeeded (and it was closer than many think now) it would extended the war in time, cost and casualties.

In a nominal war, Iran would be suing for a negotiated peace. Their C3 is gone for all practical purposes and they have no ground forces capable of holding territory, let alone launching an offensive.

But Iran is quite capable of launching a scorched-earth defense, even though that would starve their citizens and destroy infrastructure Iran needs for its future. But Iran's remaining Islamo-fascists understand that outright surrender would mean not just a change in politicians, but likely would lead to mobs of ordinary Iranians stringing up the tyrants a la Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania. So the remaining Iranian strongmen are doing everything they can to look dangerous, from random missile attacks on civilians and oilfields even in friendly countries, to using up their remaining strategic weapons just to look like a threat. And these men have put out rumors even that they would use a fizzle bomb if pressed far enough, even though crossing that threshold with the US or Israel would invite the most serious reprisals.

The sane hope would be that the people of Iran use piano wire and outrage to remove the monsters who threw their nation into darkness since 1979, or that certain groups with secret names do the world a favor and remove those monsters.

There remains about 460 kilograms of 60+% enriched uranium that makes the matter signififcant.

Oh, yeah the obliterated nuclear program... Destroyed like no ever saw. Best ever.

I observe you have no substantive answer.

Best ever. Like no one has ever seen.

'No one has ever seen' does describe substance in your answers of late, FLBear.

Yeah, not worth discussing. Some of you are so MAGA that there is no discussing. Epstein, MN, Tariff's, Venezuela, blowing up boats in the Caribbean Sea, DOGE, Greenland, Iran, Gaza by the Sea, and there is more. (in one year) You justified every one, including Epstein. How do you "discuss" anything? You found not one point of contention with the current Administration. Others have even lectured on it, because they "really know".

We are now talking bombing Iran's civilian infrastructure. Get this, to win over the people to our side and have them overthrow the Government. Yeah, that is going to make us popular, no electricity, no desalinization plants, and bombs where they live. And you guys are cheering it on. On a Christian University message board no less. Don't see anything in there, huh? Really...

Trump needs to engage his brain before he opens his mouth.

Either Joe Kent is a Patriot and 100% correct and Trump is wrong.

Or Joe Kent is a liberal pacifist who is weak on security and Trump made him head of antiterrorism anyway and Trump was wrong.

There's no win for him here.

    Sunday Update
  • Iran vows regional and US infrastructure will be "irreversibly destroyed" in response to Trump's 48-hour timeline to open Hormuz or else Iranian power plants will be obliterated.
  • Iran announces imposition a $2 million transit fee on 'non-enemy' ships wishing to transit strait.
  • Unprecedented damage and many dozens of casualties in Israel's south after tit-for-tat strikes on areas with nuclear plants.
  • Reports of US prepping diplomatic offramp plan but Iran says expanding war has effectively shut the door; Bessent says "50 days" of higher prices for 50 years of no Iran nukes, and "escalate to de-escalate."
  • [Two weeks to flatten the curve!]
Oil Could Peak at $170 in 6 Months

Supply shocks dominate near-term oil dynamics: Bernstein frames the market as highly sensitive to geopolitical disruptions, where even modest supply losses trigger outsized price responses due to already tight balances and low spare capacity.Inventories are the key transmission mechanism: OECD stock levels act as the buffer; when inventories draw down, price elasticity collapses and accelerates the move toward spike conditions.Endgame is demand destruction and macro drag: Sustained high prices ultimately force consumption adjustment, feeding into slower global growth and reinforcing a cyclical reset in energy markets.

You got it, this is going from bad to worse to no way out. These people are talking about embracing the return of liberty! After destroying the Nation and a population that has no idea what that is. Anyone from the Shah's time is over 70, left or dead.

China is going to get their oil cash cow. Knowing Trump, he will get us in a war with China next...

And interesting thought experiment would be…can any Western nation today make the sacrifices necessary to win a WWII like struggle?

Not talking "produce as much hardware as they did back then". But a real "can the People and State make the endless sacrifice in money, blood, and physiological stress needed to win"

I suspect the answer is no…..

Most people don't want to die or sacrifice all they have for a post-nation state, post religious order built on making everything a modern mere economic zone

100%

Having a shared culture, history, and lineage can rally a nation around the flag and motivate people to sacrifice for the greater good.

many of the people fighting for the US in WWII were literally fighting against brothers and first cousins.

We just spent 3 years criticizing Biden for weaponizing the DOJ, now the FBI is being ordered to investigate whoever dissents.

We just spent 3 years criticizing Biden over Hunter and the Big Guy, now Jared Kushner is running Gaza and the Trump Boys are investing based on Dad's policies.

How close are you going to let the rattlesnake get to your kids before you put your beer down and go kill it?

Using retaliatory actions taken after we attack is a really interesting way to justify the initial attack.

Also, you realize they now have the excuse to test/refine/figure out the variables and intricacies of long range targeting that they would have never been able to achieve with live fire tests, which would have brought UN resolutions and further rounds of sanctions.

At this point, which is it: is Iran collapsing and have we won (for the third or fourth time); or are they a dangerous threat to the very existence of the free world and we need $200 billion more in defense (ha) spending to keep the war going? They can't be both.
