Meanwhile, markets are recovering as Trump is saying the war is basically over.

So has Iran agreed to reopen the straits of Hormuz?

Iran is about to unconditionally surrender?

What TRUMP says about war is, in a sense, kind of like Texas weather: If you don't like it, wait 30 minutes or so ... 'cause it's gonna change.

Still another incredibly stupid thing to say by our commander in chief.

The guy will forever be his own worst enemy.

I agree. That is my biggest issue with him is the unforced errors that dont need to happen to accomplish his agenda.

That's a good one. Might have replaced a sort of centrist radical with a hardline radical, but also only lost 7 Americans, took away their ballistic missile program.

And the Israelis will be free to continue however they wish, even once we exit. I have not seen any statement on pulling out together.

One side issue is now that prices are so much higher, Russia is able to sell at a much higher price even after deep discounts. With the recent loosening of restrictions on them, they're likely to fortify their efforts against Ukraine, increase their market share, and end up handing China a strategic advantage in the interim.

Not to mention helping to fortify Iran's efforts against us. 5-D chess FTW.

LOL. You two.....

China has just lost 30% of its oil supply (from Venezuela and Iran) and it has no significant pipelines to Russia, which is losing its shadow fleet to Ukrainian strikes and US Navy interdiction.

The biggest loser of all in what Trump has done the last 60 days is China. He's engineered a catastrophic reordering of their strategic position - to their detriment. Should they decide to invade Taiwan, they now have existential vulnerability to sanctions with few options to overcome them.

China doesn't/didn't get 30% of its supply from Iran and Venezuela. They have about that reliance on Gulf state energy including LNG. But they had already shifted its sources beyond what Venezuela and Iran combined were providing to China. They began making that shift after the original nuclear facility strikes, most of it to Russia but the remainder to Saudi Arabia. They also doubled down on their strategic reserves setting aside nearly 1.4 billion barrels of oil, and have harbored 10s of millions of barrels as further reserves.

Russia already has a pipeline deploying to China with a second one in the works, so I'm not sure where you're getting your facts. China is also wearing out the Kosmino port which is a short ship transit, and just got deliveries via the new Artic route. It's like you think China, a country known for long term planning and strategy didn't counter move or has contingencies. They are not reactionaries like we practice here. Maybe we've clipped some access to black market oil, but Russia is rapidly picking up the slack. With prices headed where they are, both parties are incentivized accordingly.

Typo. I meant to say 20% which is about right. Now, add in all those places Iran is bombing in the PG and the number more than doubles. Those folks are now firmly tied to us.

The pipelines from Russia are not finished. Buber most carry gas not oil. They currently deliver about 30% of Chinas needs in NG.

So tell us again how losing Iran and Venezuela is no biggie to China, or how Russia concludes its war in Ukraine's free to export all the oil/gas it wants to China.

Have we some how galvanized support for their regime even more?

Doubtful

They have a core group of supporters.

And those I'm sure are galvanized.

But attacks on military targets and Regime leadership probably does not move the needle that much with average Iranians.

No general ground invasion or attacks on civilian areas could change that..

But if they hated the regime last month..they hate it this month. If they supported it last month they still support it.

Normally about 15%-30% of Iranians like their government

[Support for the regime is notably lower among young, urban, and educated populations. Rural areas have shown higher, though still low, support (around 28%) for the current system]

  • Trump pledges Iran 'excursion' going to be ended soon, but warned "Iran will be hit harder" if it starts up again, or if Tehran targets global global oil supplies.
  • When asked by reporter, Trump refuses to say if new Ayatollah has a target on his back.
  • Trump tells Republican conference it is going to be a short-term excursion in Iran, but he's ready to see the mission through against "evil" Iran.. Says of Tehran, "They should've cried uncle two days ago." And Iran campaign will be "finished pretty quickly".
  • Trump tells CBS "the war could be over soon." Oil prices drop on the headline.
  • Trump calls choice of new supreme leader 'a big mistake'
  • Lebanon wants direct peace talks with Israel to end fighting but Israeli rejects it, also amid US skepticism: Axios.
  • Trump says too soon to talk about seizing Iran's oil but does not rule it out, tells NBC.
This is all garbage. The only thing temporary is Trump's jawboning oil prices down for a day or two.
