LOL I wouldn't put much stock in his comments. A Director of CounterTerrorism in a civilian agency has no need to know be involved in oversight of a military operation. Guarantee you he was not at the WH the night the bombing started.

Listened to Joe Kent's interview with Tucker Carlson the other day. The guy is very well spoken and did not diss Trump, although he had the right to. Class act. Trump has unleashed the hounds of Hell on him for not toeing the company line. Hannity, Fox News, and the DOJ. Hilarious that Trump claims to want to eliminate the weaponization of the justice system. He may be the worst offender before all is said and done.

Gavin Newsome is well-spoken, too. It's the substance that matters.

Kent has gone so far down the isolationism rabbit hole that he's now blaming Israel for all of our foreign policy problems, literally excusing the actions of an Iranian regime which has killed more Americans than any other while consistently pursuing nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Iran has admitted to having enough 60% uranium to produce 11 nuclear weapons. If true, that would put them weeks/months away from nuclear capability. (the speed of enrichment process, as a matter of physics, accelerates over time.) They have demonstrated via use this week to have long-range ballistic weapons proven capable of reaching out 4000km. The next leap is intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of striking us.

And of course, we have INDICTED two individuals involved in an assassination plot against Trump. Sorry. You try to kill a former US president running for re-election......you deserve to get your country turned into a parking lot guarded by the US military. Of course, that is hard work. But never fear, there will always be someone who seeks to avoid doing the job by insisting Israel is responsible for all of our foreign policy problems. Blaming Israel makes all foreign policy problems so very simple. Just cut $3b in aid to Israel. Let the Arabs overrun the country and send the Jews all into exile somewhere. And....voila.....the birds sing and the rainbow gleams while the whole world sings in perfect harmony the chords of a just and lasting peace. Selah, selah...as the rastas would say

Isolationism first & foremost is intellectual laziness....an attempt to define away problems rather than dealing with them.

Saturday Update

Summary
Natanz nuclear site attacked: Iran says "no nuclear radiation" detected, even as attacks on core sites like Isfahan nuclear facilities signal clear escalation despite earlier Trump signals of maybe "winding down."
War expands with furthest ever Iranian missile launch: Iran fires missiles at Diego Garcia in a failed but unprecedented long-range strike.
US claims momentum, hits hardened targets, Hormuz softening ops: CENTCOM says Iran has lost "significant combat capability" after 8,000+ strikes, and bunker-busting attacks on coastal facilities tied to control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Kharg invasion risk rising: US still weighing a high-risk seizure of Kharg Island as more US warships and Marines surge to the region, raising odds of boots-on-the-ground escalation.

Twenty-two countries have now signed onto a joint statement signaling their "readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage" through the SoH.

The growing list, which includes NATO members, comes after President Donald Trump ripped NATO for acting like "cowards" Friday. The president said "they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but don't want to help open the Strait of Hormuz."

The joint statement said, "We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait," and, "We welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preparatory planning."
The statement is attributed to the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Romania, Bahrain, Lithuania, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.

"We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces," the statement also said.

"We express our deep concern about the escalating conflict. We call on Iran to cease immediately its threats, laying of mines, drone and missile attacks and other attempts to block the Strait to commercial shipping, and to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817," the statement continued, referencing a resolution passed last week that spoke out against Iran's recent actions.

Reuters:

By Laila Bassam, Tom Perry, Samia Nakhoul and Maya Gebeily

BEIRUT, March 21 (Reuters) - Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) rebuilt Hezbollah's military command after it was mauled by Israel in 2024, plugging gaps with Iranian officers before restructuring the Lebanese group and laying plans for the war it is now waging in support of Tehran, two people familiar with these IRGC activities said.

The overhaul was the first of its kind for Hezbollah, a Shi'ite Muslim group founded by the IRGC in 1982, pointing to a hands-on approach after the blows of the 2024 war, including the killing of its leader Hassan Nasrallah and other top commanders.

Iran's investment paid off, getting Hezbollah back on its feet in time to enter the war in the Middle East on Tehran's side after it was attacked by the United States and Israel.

Reuters reported earlier in March that Hezbollah had seen another war as inevitable and spent months readying itself. This article sheds light on the IRGC's role in these preparations, based on accounts from six sources who spoke on condition of anonymity as well as an expert on Hezbollah.

The IRGC, deeply involved in Hezbollah since it was established, sent officers to retrain its fighters and oversee rearmament, the two sources familiar with IRGC activities said.

They said IRGC officers also reshaped Hezbollah command structures that had been breached by Israeli intelligence - a factor that had helped Israel kill many Hezbollah leaders.

An Israeli military spokesperson said on March 12 that Hezbollah remains a relevant and dangerous force despite the damage Israel has inflicted on it over the last three years.

Hezbollah has fired hundreds of missiles at Israel since it entered the regional war on March 2, prompting an Israeli offensive that has killed more than 1,000 people in Lebanon. Hezbollah fighters are battling Israeli soldiers who have seized ground in the south.

It has yet to be seen how Hezbollah, its power still below the peak levels seen a few years ago, would fare in the event of a full-scale Israeli invasion.

Hezbollah's media office, Iran's Foreign Ministry and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

I think it's safe to say that Israel has slipped the client state leash and is acting in a very dangerous manner with regards to American interests.

This makes me feel a lot better about Vance and Bessent. Tulsi has NEVER been a fan of forever wars on the other side of the world. Would not be surprised to see her step down in the coming weeks.

Anti-semitism is the same thing with a little touch of genocide mixed in for effect.

With all due respect, it is Trump that has isolated himself and our country from the rest of the Western world. He looks up, and suddenly we have no friends. I do believe that Israel has more power and influence over the United States. I'm just not sure why the little country of 10 million people is able to dictate the foreign policy of the United States. Not sure why we can't seem to any longer tell Israel NO. Something has changed. Not sure what.

I used to somewhat enjoy your posts. Something has changed. Not sure what.

score another point for 'strategic asshattery':

Saturday Afternoon Update:

  • Natanz nuclear site attacked: Iran says "no nuclear radiation" detected, even as attacks on core sites like Isfahan nuclear facilities signal clear escalation despite earlier Trump signals of maybe "winding down."
  • Iran has responded by targeting Israel's Dimona nuclear facility. The Israeli army confirmed "a direct impact of an Iranian missile"
Things are getting a little sporty, kids.

Trump: For the third time, we've won, we're winding down.

Israel: Hold my beer.

Iran: Hold my tea.

I think it's safe to say that Israel has slipped the client state leash and is acting in a very dangerous manner with regards to American interests.

How. Please explain clearly how destruction of Iranian nuclear sites is NOT in the interests of the USA?
