5000 is not enough for a major ground offensive. It MIGHT be enough for something like Kharg Island. It would be enough for a short term action like destruction of a single important target or an extraction.

As predicted last summer, Iran's nuclear program remains intact. Regime change efforts have failed. US and Israeli defenses are depleted. Israel is at existential risk from missile and drone attacks. And the only conventional option left is ground forces, of which we have not nearly enough to make a difference.

Because your predictions on Russia/Ukraine were so accurate...

The 2023 counter-offensive failed spectacularly, with Ukrainian forces unable to reach Russian defenses, much less penetrate them. The Kursk offensive was likewise repelled with massive loss of Ukrainian personnel and equipment. Sanctions against Russia have failed to cause economic or political collapse. And Russian forces have continued their slow advance through the Donbas and beyond. So yeah, pretty much.

That's all very nice, but your constant prediction at the beginning that Ukraine could not last much longer is glaring.

It can't.

Oh brother.
Like I've always said, it's a war of attrition, not a Hollywood movie.

We saw the buildup around Ven and saw what happened. I can't imagine these troops are going to the area to watch from the sidelines. I'm thinking we at least take Kharg and use it as a bargaining chip in the future.

Just curious, why? Why should those Marines take Kharg Island, for what? Trump has wanted to do this since 1988. Why do we need it?

Do we kust keep going? Using your logic, once we commit, no matter what, it has to be supported? We destroyed their military, set up a no fly zone and we are done. Let the Israel's go in and find the uranium.

Well argued. In any case, I'll happily put up my record against any other poster's on this topic. I also called no WMD in Iraq and the Taliban regaining power in Afghanistan, FWIW. We foreign policy pessimists are rarely if ever surprised.
