Of course it is.

And when hostilities start again, it is a new 60 days. Correct?

Announcing uranium enrichment to 60 percent sends a message that Iran has joined the ranks of nuclear threshold powers. Other states considered to be in that category include Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea.

What do they all have in common?

It's confirmation of what alt media were reporting weeks ago. US bases throughout the region are cooked.

Actually I believe something will happen by the end of the week. There is lots of chatter from a lot of different directions stating "Finish the job".

I think it's a primer for more military action

Trump cannot legally take more action. Congress has to weigh in now.

it want be hard to bait IRGC into firing a shot at a military target or a ship the US is escorting. When they do, Trump will have the US react with overwhelming force and call it retaliation.

Israel will jump in too and hit a few power relay stations in key locations too. It will cut power while not damaging power production

"Update: (6:30pm ET): It appears that Trump's Operation Freedom is just the latest jawboning nothingburger. As the WSJ explains, Project Freedom "is a process through which countries, insurance companies and shipping organizations can coordinate moving traffic through the Strait, according to a senior U.S. official. It doesn't currently involve U.S. Navy warships escorting vessels through the strait, the official said." In other words, as we mused earlier, this is not the announcement of an escort mission just now, and is just filler for another post from Trump."

I think you're operating under the misunderstanding that anyone inside the beltway is still using the Constitution. The last administration put a trigger warning on it, after all.

If Trump uses the same use of force resolution from the Bush administration in 2001 that Obama used, then Congress is not obligated to act.

Non US media is saying that's accurate. I've read where we have extensive damage at every base in the region.

You guys really think this will "end" it? I hope you are right the longer it goes on the more of the US will be impacted.

Just hope we are not 1914 Britain and Trump is Churchill, looking at everything through our prism.

If Trump uses the same use of force resolution from the Bush administration in 2001 that Obama used, then Congress is not obligated to act.

Congress - or more specifically the career politicians who huddle under the guise of being Congress - has largely abandoned its key roles, and we are where we are as a result.

Congress holds the purse strings, we are told, but almost no one remembers the last time Congress actually put together a budget, let the public know what was in it, debated and passed it and then it was signed into law. Instead we get continuing resolutions which raise the debt (which is always blamed on the President, sometimes because of pet projects he adds and sometimes so Congress can duck explaining the waste) and in spite of some virtue signaling the crisis only grows worse.

As for war, we have not had a declaration of war since 1941, but that has not prevented a lot of military adventures - some wise and necessary, some reckless and wrong, and many controversial. Congress only seems to debate a military action according to politics, and the public is presented only with binary options of going along with the package of actions or rejecting everything.

I dislike some of Trump's political tactics in managing the Iran crisis, but he is operating under rules put in place long before he set foot in the Oval Office, and he is no more guilty than a dozen Presidents before him who had to handle crises with a fickle and irresponsible Congress.

  • Following a report from the UAE National Emergency Crisis and Disaster that the country's "air defenses are now dealing with a missile threat", we have gotten reports of explosions in Dubai, which has sent oil higher and Emini futures into the red.
Whether this was an actual Iranian strike (doubt it, they have nothing to gain with such a limited display) or a false flag it is hard to say.

It would not be legal to claim the AUMF as a basis.

If Trump uses the same use of force resolution from the Bush administration in 2001 that Obama used, then we should cut our losses and just disband congress and end the charade of checks and balances.

To be clear, that is not an endorsement of Obama's use of the resolution either. Quite the opposite. A president (regardless of party) should not be able to deploy the military unilaterally for any material length of time. I get the arguments about appropriations, etc. and the delegation doctrine, but the last time I checked we haven't done the budge process properly in years either.

Congress is way to busy raising funds, skimming funds and trying to get re-elected to do their jobs.
