To this point Iran has mainly focused on demonstrating its capabilities and taking out US military assets. At best these strikes represent a measured escalation in response to recent US attacks. At worst they're a sign that Iran is moving to the next tier of targets and getting serious about hitting civilian infrastructure throughout the region, with all the global economic consequences that implies.

I've never seen a president so completely flailing and out of his depth (and I lived through the Biden administration).

I think both sides are moving on the next tier of targets. Trump said this coming week is "bridge and power plant day", and the Iranians are going to respond in kind. I don't think the economic realities of this war can be hidden beyond another few weeks.

I agree, and my concern is that the longer you juke the markets and drain the reserves, the worse it's going to be when it hits. Trump has to know this, but he's incapable of the tough decisions that are needed.

Although we have hit bridges, they were bridges adjacent to military installations. Good to stay away from purely civilian infrastructure.

For those who care about international law, Iran hitting desalination and power in Kuwait is a war crime. I am sure the international outcry will be swift.

Hegesth and Trump are making Biden and Austen look competent, amazing. I thought I would never see worse. They have to get Hegseth out of there, get a professional in there.

Look at Caribbean, they let the Navy Commander speak to Congress and everything calmed down. He told Congress what they are doing, Congress told him what there concerns were and it was ironed out. That is how professionals work. We are watching Amateur Hour in DC... It is costing the US.

We've been hitting civilian targets all along. It's just that our focus has been more on terrorizing the population (counter-productively) in hopes of inducing regime change rather than punishing them for the sake of punishment (also counter-productive, but we're near the end of our options at this point).

We either need a plan to take the Straits and end this, which will mean an occupying force. Either the UN under the existing decree OR the US takes it and manages it like the Panama Canal. That is a long term commitment.

The Straits are like Gibraltar or Malacca, International waters. That means Trump has to go to the UN and put together a coalition, something he has not shown capable of doing.

Or, negotiated peace. The current condition can go on for years.

But, it will all depend on what Bibi wants to do...

No, we have not been hitting many civilian targets. Those we have seem a mix of accident or near enough to military targets to be excused away.

The first day of this conflict the US military literally bombed a school and killed hundreds of school girls... there wasn't much international outcry then

That was a mistake though. And a pretty large international outcry. It's one thing to target civilians, another to kill by accident.

He's a moron if a seriously thinks he can. Foreign leaders have diplomatic immunity as do ambassadors and other officials. They are protected under international law. Besides no leader of any city has jurisdiction for any alleged crime under international law. And everything Bibi has been accused of is fake based on propaganda & lies by territories. One would be pretty foolish to believe such nonsense.

Any NYC official who actually tried something that stupid would risk creating an international incident and likely themselves be subject to arrest and prosecution by federal authorities. It would be funny and ironic if the fool actually tried something that stupid and ended up in jail himself.

No doubt the petulant man-child mayor will throw a tantrum. Why do the Leftists always seem to have the emotional maturity of toddlers? it's probably because they have a childish view of the world disconnected from reality.

Typically, there is no such thing as a "military use bridge". Almost all bridges are mixed use, and attacks on them invariably end up killing civilians.

You're right about international law, but keep in mind that Iran's attacks on GCC infrastructure came in response to our attacks on their infrastructure.

So, it is impossible that somebody is selling them missiles. So, it can't be that. Must be fake news.
