the SBC? Not just them. The RC also limits pastoral roles for women.

My understanding is this: women are supposed to have an active role in the church. How many women leaders in the OT?

Priscilla teaches Apollos (Acts 18:26)
Phoebe carries & explains Romans (Rom. 16:12)
Junia is highly respected by the apostles (Rom. 16:7)
Euodia and Syntyche are Paul's "co-workers" (Phil. 4:3)

Its all Misunderstood. Paul told the women to stop chit chatting in church and focus on the reason for gathering. A woman cant prophesy and be silent.

The Holy Spirit came upon plenty of women during pentacost where they began to prophesy and speak in tongues.

The big clue for me is where Paul said it was forbidden, just like the law says(the Law - the Torah doesnt say it, the Talmud says its shameful for women to speak. Paul was rebuking the Talmud- mans law.

Paul wrote women should learn in full submission and silence(top attributes of any male disciple) in an era where women werent supposed to learn at all, he equalized them to male disciples.

Greek to English translation loses things.

Miriam was one of the first to pick up an instrument and lead in worship (Exodus 15:20). But this wasn't her only ministry role. Micah 6:4 names Miriam as a leader of the nation, along with Moses and Aaron.
Deborah was not a church but the entire nation (Judges 4-5)
Huldah the prophetess had a leading role in the restoration. (2 Kings 22)
Esther (this one could be debatable since there is no role in a church)
Joel 2:28 says your sons and daughters will have the ability to prophesy

Okay. Don't disagree. Seems weird the SBC still has a hard-on for women pastors 50 years after the fundamentalist takeover when the denomination is disappearing.

Bearing false witness.

Two women were the first people on earth to see the risen Christ and bring news of his resurrection (Matthew 28:1-10).

The prohibition of women in the pulpit in no way prevents a woman from sharing the gospel, and God is well pleased when they do. He just doesn't want them being pastors.

The SBC has gotten a great deal wrong over the past few decades organizationally, specifically Russell Moore and the ERLC along with the last few presidents. But this isn't one of those things.

Scripture says it.

Tradition says it.

Fruit is evidence of it. There hasn't been a single denomination that has started ordaining women that hasn't gone off the rails doctrinally, morally, or both.

I went from SBC to Eastern Orthodox.

I got out of 1950 AD and went back to 50 AD.

Life is pretty good in the 50s.

Scripture says it. No, Paul said it. He said that we free from the law and then promptly added more laws including It is his opnion.

Tradition says it.Sure tradition said. This tradition was male dominated. The Catholic are 1500 years late and the SBC is what 150 years - all were male dominated clergy who did not want to give up power.

Fruit is evidence of it. There hasn't been a single denomination that has started ordaining women that hasn't gone off the rails doctrinally, morally, or both. Standing up for principle will cause shrinking said Jesus and these denominations.
P.S. SBC churches are also losing members.

where specifically in scripture does it say that? I covered the two main instances that are commonly referred to in my prior post.

I'm not arguing for female pastors. Based on the natural elements of how men and women are, men make better senior leaders and women make better middle managers.

Edit:
Went back and read first Timothy and Paul does say that he does not allow a woman to exercise authority over a man. This relates back to the relationship of Adam having the authority and the responsibility.

Only men are to pastor and lead congregations. Women do have important roles in ministry, and they can lead other women and they can lead children. Such as leading women's Bible studies and teaching Sunday school etc

"Denomination is disappearing" is a little strong

The SBC has declined…but far less than the mainline Protestant Church bodies that are in free fall.

And most of its decline seems to be in losing members to bleed over into Evangelical/Bible churches that have essentially the same theological beliefs.
