Seems to me not, much. total waste of time, money and lives. We beat up their navy. That's it . None of what Trump said he was invading Iran for happened. Id' argue we are way worse off before the . Trump got taken to the cleaners. Thoughts?

Trump today was gloating today about "inflicting a trillion dollars worth of damage on Iran." Not a good look.
The irony is that American taxpayers will probably be charged with rebuilding Iran.
We have become the big bully of the world. I guess we're gonna kick Cuba's ass next. And then, of course, send them $billions. That is just how Trump rolls.

Hey in addition to their navy being destroyed I have seen that we may have destroyed the last of their F14s…… so I mean that is a win that we destroyed 50 year old tech……..
Also, we opened the straight….. you know the one that was open before the war……

We Made America Worse Again.
And while in some way I'm glad to see the neocons that have done so much harm to the country over the last several decades run right into the wall of reality, the cost for that was far too high.

Obama hasn't been president for 10 years.

I agree that this latest foray was a mistake, but I do think some of you are underselling the damage done for political reasons. Here is a list:While I would argue that these weren't necessarily worth the costs, the idea that Iran is "stronger" is just silly. Iran's best weapon is terrorism. It's a paper tiger that would fold pretty quickly if we ever decided to invade (we won't).
- We destroyed around 50 military bases and key facilities (air bases, missile sites, naval bases);
- We essentially ended their military and financial support for Hezbollah;
- Iran's nuclear facilities (Natanz, Fordow, etc.) were struck, with some major destruction to enrichment infrastructure;
- Its ballistic missile arsenal was "severely degraded" according to our military.
- It's air force and navy were destroyed.
The problem with these types of military misadventures is that Trump overestimated the power of the Iranian people and the willingness of the religious zealots to give up control. It's the same mistake we've made many times in our nation building forays over the years.

You know better than anyone that when people enter a negotiation, they have different goals. The (Trump) perspective looks very western world. "We destroyed all this stuff." That's a win if Iran cared about all that stuff.
It excludes all the bases and planes and credibility we lost.
Iran gets to say they took a shot and survived. They also get to rebuild.
I'm not convinced that destruction was our goal.

I think the Trump perspective was that if he hit these targets, the people would essentially rise up and overthrow the Mullahs. That was the critical error in judgment.
I am not sure Iran gets to brag about anything here. They've been reduced to a paper tiger that has no teeth, essentially. The media narrative is they're somehow stronger, but that's not reality.

Just so I have you resident LWNj's straight. according to you the better alternative would've been to ignore the actionable intelligence that a group of insane Shiite Muslim extremists who believe that it's "allah's will" that they destroy Israel and the USA and either convert the rest of the world to their radical brand of Islam or kill them too are are on the precipice of producing nukes - and do nothing. Why not just keep kicking the can down the road like the last 47 years, right? Why not just hand it off to our kids - after all, maybe, just maybe complete lunes with nukes won't actually act like lunes even in the long run - right?
I agree that presently it's disappointing regime change hasn't happened, but I also believe it's highly possible the full story on that hasn't been written yet and we should stay tuned.

They have a lot of teeth. In 60 days they get to charge a toll to travel through the strait. They also have significant backing by China and China got to view how their weapons can work against us.
Hopefully we stop getting rid of highly qualified military personnel and get back to proper preparation.

We know there was no actionable intelligence. Hopefully our kids will figure out that Iran being three months away from a nuke for 47 years doesn't add up.
