Safe from privacy, safe from free expression, safe from presumption of innocence. Seems Flock cameras are trying to do away with that nasty Bill of Rights.

Besides the obvious constitutional issues regarding privacy and fears of a more tyrannical police state, there are other issues. For example:

Wisconsin police pull over wrong vehicle, draw guns on woman after Flock cameras mistakenly identified her car in a homicide case. Twice

https://notthebee.com/article/wisconsin-police-pull-over-wrong-vehicle-draw-guns-on-woman-after-flock-cameras-mistakenly-identified-her-car-in-a-homicide-case-twice

There are certainly some t
Privacy tradeoffs and some well publicized issues, however what you dont hear about is all the criminals, terriost both here legally amd illegally that are being swept off the streets, last count was over 50,000 and these cameras really help all the law enforment agencies keep us safe.

It's incredible we've been able to survive as a society for 250 years without these modern miracles.

That is a good point. Most people are certainly happy to see Justice for criminals, especially violent ones and illegal aliens.

Flock cameras won't lead to a Nazi or Soviet state. Citizens who aren't safe will act in an unlawful manner which might lead to the result neither of us wants

Flock cameras have already been abused several times which is why people don't like them. In of themselves, they probably won't lead to a dictatorship or overthrow our liberties but they are one step in a king stream of abuses that could produce those results.

No one knows what the future will bring.

In the early days of license plate data bases there were abuses (cops checking on ex wives or girlfriends). They figured it out and safeguards have worked. Flock cameras make us safer. Safeguards can be worked out to protect privacy interests

If reasonable safeguards are put in place without violating our constitutional rights then they might be acceptable. The problem is that many people don't trust the government or Big Tech to get it right. They have given us many reasons over the years to distrust them.

You mean protecting America from illegal drugs that kills thousands of our citizens? Naturally you would rather have a large number of Americans dead than foreign criminals. It's difficult for us normies to mourn murderers when they receive justice.

You probably want Iran to get nukes do they can blow up the world by starting WWIII!

Won't cameras protect us even better? If you're not a criminal, what do you have to fear?

Everyone has reason to fear a government spying on them. They will abuse power regardless. No reason to make it easy for them. We only need to remember Obama's IRS, DoJ, etc and Biden's FBI, DoJ, and everything else.

Leftists don't care as much because their fascist leaders usually only target conservatives and the GOP uses the DoJ & other agencies against criminals. That's what normies want them to do. Leftists should care because corrupt politicians and bureaucrats who target some people unjustly could easily target others. They never know when someone like Biden won't go after them too.

You constantly rail against "Leftists," but, from what I can tell, most of the communities that have implemented contracts with Flock have been in areas that lean heavily GOP. Nothing you just said above has much relevance to Flock cameras and the politicians who want them in their constituents' communities. What gives?
