Well it's not exactly wrong. Progressive christianity isn't Christianity - it's just borrowing the name for obvious reasons.
Unfortunately, the only option we have is to not give them money - the board is controlled and our rich donors used to be actual moderate Christians - but the culture has shifted them, and we know "moderate" Christians today are actually just allies for the progressive agenda.
Baylor is done for as a Christian school unless the board takes over and kicks out the destructionists. But if history is any example, BU will hang on to enough religion so that "traditional" Christians keep sending their kids there, but the Christian influence lessens every year. But long term, the less moderate-to-traditional it becomes, the more it has to seek "international" and progressive money.

I think Baylor created a completely unnecessary PR problem for itself. We are a Christian university with roughly 20,000 students, and by the best estimates Muslims represent maybe 1% of the student body, perhaps 200 students.
I have no issue with Muslim students attending Baylor or practicing their faith. But when you choose to attend an explicitly Christian university, I don't think the university has an obligation to modify its dining program around every religious practice. There are halal options available off campus in Waco, just as students with other preferences sometimes have to go off campus for what they want.
The bigger issue is the complete lack of upside for Baylor. Even if offering halal food seems like a small accommodation, Baylor had to know that promoting it around "diversity" would create controversy among alumni, donors, parents, and prospective students who value Baylor specifically because of its Christian identity. We created a national PR headache ourselves to solve a problem affecting a very small percentage of students.
Baylor should be welcoming to everyone. But being welcoming doesn't require constantly changing the institution to accommodate every group that comes through the doors. Students also choose Baylor knowing what Baylor is. We are a Christian university, and we should be confident enough in that identity that the expectation isn't always for Baylor to assimilate to everyone else.

I bet I drive by 50 places a week that can offer me up different ways to make chicken every week. It's like the Bubba Gump of chicken in Dallas. Halal chicken, Currie chicken Korean fried chicken, Kentucky fried chicken (they let chickens die for that crap). Chicken wings. Chicken nuggets. President too chicken to serve. Always chickens out. Chicken fried chicken.
It's no "damage" to me. I'm just glad people are catching on to the greatness of chicken.

Most of us can't afford to send our kids there so they have to offer accommodations to people who can. It's college. It's a business. Send your kids to Stephen F Austin where you can afford and they likely have a place on campus that offers halal foods for the students.

I'm not a fan of BU doing the Halal thing. We eat what we eat. You have choices. If they would like some vegetarian food, we have that too and no need to slit a salad's throat. Don't need Kosher Food either. Be expensive to retrofit those kitchens to strictly Kosher and I'm no sure if we have a Rabbi in the house to bless the pipes? Hindu is a religion and their food is not tied to a religion. Now, all them damn Mexicans are all Catholic, so wafers and wine for everyone !

Could not agree more. Wrong decision. Once again a position that just infuriates the base, 99% and to get horrible PR. Not a good look for the University and its leadership. They need to reverse course and quick.
