Has he never heard of elevator shafts???

Heck even die hard back in 1988 did a good job of showing the explosion going up the whole elevator shaft.

Then you have gravity….. all that burning stuff failing down the elevator to the basement full of flammable items…..

Just stupid.

I am not an engineer. I do not believe any of the conspiracy theories.

However, as a lay person, it did surprise me that the WTC towers pancaked and the bottom 80 floors could not support the collapse of the top 20 - I assumed those buildings were super strong - I would have thought the collapsed floors would have just "fallen off" vs. pancaking. However, that's just a lay persona's initial thoughts. I 100% do not believe any of the "forced explosion" crap.

RE: WTC7 - been explained that the planes were so powerful with so much force that the fuel and energy went into it and it similarly burned.

Again, not promoting conspiracy just naive around the strength of a 110-story building.

If you want to umderstand how one collapsed before the other, check the asbestos history of each.

If ever in NYC, I highly recommend the Memorial as one of the first things you do (ok, Pastrami at Katz exception). Very moving. This and Normandy Beach( and cemetery) are both so moving.

Yup. I remember reading those.

I also provided those to bum on the old site all the time as he thought all 3 buildings were controlled demolitions.

I was responding to someone who said the collapse of building 7 was demolition explosions.

That is a conspiracy theory with no facts. I know the building collapsed from fires and damage from the two towers.

We watched that happen in real time 25 years ago. One does not need to be a genius at physics to understand what we saw.

I know. I was responding to the poster who said they didn't know how it collapsed.

It was my way of agreeing with you. I thought it was pretty obvious from what we saw then. The conspiracy theories require silly mental gymnastics.

After the shock and horror of that day I'll never forget in the immediate days and weeks that followed how united and resolute the country was. American flags everywhere. Church attendance soared. Republicans and Democrats were united like I've never seen before or since. GWB was a great unifying POTUS during this time period as well. It was amazing. Too bad we couldn't maintain it.

GWB was the president who initiated the policy of mass muslim importation after 9-11. He also launched the failed Iraq war.

That horrific day and the weeks that followed will forever be etched in to my brain.

I have been kind of surprised how low key things have been about it this week with it being the 25th anniversary.

I actually had the opposite thought...that for 25 years we've actively suppressed the memory of that day as we've imported Muslims hand over fist and had them colonize parts of the US.

...why is the memory of 9-11 being trotted out now all of a sudden in a synchronized fashion?

Why is Christmas trotted out every December 25? Do you understand how anniversaries work?

We don't suddenly emphasize the celebration of Christmas after trying to forget about it for 25 years.

Most Americans haven't been trying to forget 9-11 for 25 years.

It's only pro-Islamists who did that.

I'm not talking about the average citizen. I'm talking about willful institutional amnesia because "islamophobia" vs a sudden surge of promotion.

(CNN) -- Most U.S. airports and airlines resumed operations on Thursday, but not without a host of cancellations, arrests and anxious passengers.
The most trying moments came in New York, site of one of Tuesday's terror attacks.
At least eight people were arrested Thursday at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports, law enforcement sources said, including four who previously were challenged at one of the airports on Tuesday, the day terrorists commandeered four other planes.

So true. And for some reason the media got behind that movement as well. There was a time when many of the stations showed lots of documentaries and things about the day leading up to the anniversary. Then for a few years they maybe showed one or two but with toned down footage.

There was footage from the day of the attack I remember watching live on tv that showed a reporter about a block away. When the tower fell the wind that rushed at them was strong enough to knock the cameraman down. In the background before he fell you could see other getting knocked down, hit by debris, etc.

The footage was played for a few years after on documentary shows and could be found on YouTube.

Then it just disappeared. Like it never existed.

One of the most moving videos after the collapse was the chirping of the locators worn by firefighters. The video was silent except for that sound. The end cut to a day or two later when the chirping was growing silent because the batteries died and the final chirp heard by that cameraman.

Yes, on the morning of September 11, 2001, Vice President Dick Cheney ordered military fighter pilots to shoot down commercial airliners that failed to comply with directions. [1, 2, 3]
The decision-making process, timing, and outcome of this historic order unfolded through the following key events:

The Order and the Timeline
  • The Authorization: Operating from the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) beneath the White House, Vice President Cheney discussed the rules of engagement with President George W. Bush, who was aboard Air Force One. President Bush confirmed the executive authorization to shoot down hijacked civilian aircraft as a desperate last resort to prevent further attacks on Washington, D.C.. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • The Command: Between 10:10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., after a military aide reported that an unresponsive aircraft (later identified as United Airlines Flight 93) was closing in fast on Washington, Cheney issued the directive: "If it looks threatening, take it out." [1, 2]
  • The Military Relay: The order officially passed into the military's chain of command at the Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS) at 10:31 a.m. [1, 2]
The Misunderstanding
Shortly after the order was broadcast, word reached the bunker that a plane had crashed south of Johnstown in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. For a period of roughly ten minutes, Cheney and White House officials genuinely believed that U.S. military fighter jets had successfully intercepted and shot down a civilian airliner. [1, 2, 3]

The Aftermath
No American military pilots ever had to fire a weapon or execute the order. The 9/11 Commission Report later revealed that the shootdown order actually reached the scrambled fighter pilots too late to be acted upon. [1, 2, 3]
The plane in question, United Airlines Flight 93, was brought down by the extraordinary acts of heroism from its own passengers. Having learned about the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon via cabin phones, the passengers stormed the cockpit to overpower the hijackers, sacrificing their own lives to protect the nation's capital
