Remember, it's only about merit. From that picture, I cannot tell you where any of those folks were born.
This isn’t complicated.

If it was a handful of Indian guys, everybody would love it. It would be a novelty, it would be kinda funny — the scale is the issue, and images like this (plus visiting Dallas) lead one to believe the scale is completely out of control, because it is. https://t.co/6RzIFDQCrr

If I’m reading this right, total White enrolment across the UT system is under 20%? In Texas? https://t.co/QDJfTvY4wq

Sounds like French has a factual point
And the leaders of the GOP can't go on forever simply kicking the can down the road on the issue of replacement migration/colonizationIf I’m reading this right, total White enrolment across the UT system is under 20%? In Texas? https://t.co/QDJfTvY4wq

Texas politicians rigged the game against their own citizens, broke the rules to make sure their own children didn’t suffer under the new regime, and then had an absolute meltdown when one guy pointed it. If you argue against UT spots going to actual foreigners who are not going to stay in America, fine, I probably agree with you. State resources should not go to something that will not benefit the state.
But most of you are arguing that Americans should not be at UT because of their ethnicity, regardless of their intellectual merit.
God is ashamed of you. Your argument is racist and sickening. Period, end of story.

To be fair, unless I was very-well connected or was an exceptional student and going into Engineering, Comp Sci, or maybe Chemistry - joining the military is going to be the much smarter option for kids getting out of high school today. Veterans get so many free handouts the rest of us dont receive its the best way to power-level in real life... claim disability and get $5000 a month... dont have to pay property tax... get free healthcare... get lower rates on insurance... preferential hiring... and the list goes on and on

As I understand it, the issue is foreigners coming to America on student & other visas and given preferential treatment in school admissions, job applications, etc.
As for American citizens applying for university admission, they should be treated as equal with no consideration for ethnicity. To favor one ethnicity over another is illegal discrimination and unconstitutional regardless of who it is. This includes affirmative action & DEI.

In other words, French is a shoe in to win since he represents the values of most Texans: honesty, integrity, justice, true equality instead of the fake Marxist kind, and do on.
The funny thing is the WaPo probably thinks that those reports will hurt him.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem or a racism problem? When French says "heritage Americans," he means white people.

No...they are arguing that American citizenship should not be so easily sold that the demographics of entire States can't switch in a breathtaking short term. Not even a single lifetime.
PS
Westerners are the least racist people on earth....the most welcoming and the least ethno-nationalist
I mean you don't see Africans, East Asians, Israelis, Arabs, or Indians letting in millions of other peoples into their nations do you?
Blaming Texans or Americans for not wanting to be demographically replaced in a single lifetime...while not holding the rest of the world to this same standard is utter and horrible hypocrisy.

Or maybe he means American citizens who are part of our culture, including first or second generation immigrants who have assimilated. They are just as much Americans as those of us whose ancestors came in the 17th or 18th centuries or were already here to greet them. In other words, people with an American heritage.

What a racist trope. First, you have no idea whether those specific kids are from India, Asia, or Lorena. Second, the more general idea that we are being swamped by Asians or Muslims has zero statistical support. While Asians are Texas's fastest-growing demographic, they comprise about 6% of the state's population, growing at an annual rate of 5-6% compared with an overall growth rate of about 1.5%. In other words, they constitute a small percentage of the population and will remain a minority. Third, America has always been about immigration. The same complaints you are making now were leveled against the Irish, the Italians, Eastern Europeans, and previous generations of Asians.
What really upsets you is not that they won't "assimilate," because they do assimilate. Going crazy at a college football game proves that point.
You and French are upset that so many of them are in the picture because they earned their way into a selective public school. If America is one thing, it is supposed to be a meritocracy.

Should we believe our lying eyes or whatever data you're going to throw at us. All you need to do is take a trip to Costco or HEB in Frisco or any mall in Collin or Denton county. I was at the Galleria over Christmas and hadnt been there in maybe 15 years. It was shocking how much I felt like a minority. It was liike I was literally in Mumbai.
