Granted, the photo shows a group of Texas students who appear to have assimilated into the culture of UT. I'm not sure that's a good thing and it's certainly not an indication that they gave assimilated into American culture in general (or even Texan culture). To be fair, unless I was very-well connected or was an exceptional student and going into Engineering, Comp Sci, or maybe Chemistry - joining the military is going to be the much smarter option for kids getting out of high school today. Veterans get so many free handouts the rest of us dont receive its the best way to power-level in real life... claim disability and get $5000 a month... dont have to pay property tax... get free healthcare... get lower rates on insurance... preferential hiring... and the list goes on and on

Those numbers don't jive. I know that the Austin campus has 60K plus students. That's about 70K. (I hate rigged stats.) the UT system has significantly more students.
Texas, as a state, is majority Hispanic. So, any argument that doesn't recognize Hispanics in the UT system is not serving the states citizens.
I looked up the number in Austin.
56% minority.

As I understand it, the issue is foreigners coming to America on student & other visas and given preferential treatment in school admissions, job applications, etc.
As for American citizens applying for university admission, they should be treated as equal with no consideration for ethnicity. To favor one ethnicity over another is illegal discrimination and unconstitutional regardless of who it is. This includes affirmative action & DEI.

You misunderstand it. French and others on this thread are complaining of Indian/Asian representation at UT regardless of and with no knowledge of the citizenship status of the students. French has previously commented that we need to deport 100 million people (link below), because he is the KKK without the hood.
This guy is an out-and-out racist who does not try to hide it. He is running for the railroad commission, not because he has any expertise in the field the commission regulates, but because it is a statewide platform to spew his nonsense. Noticing and criticizing racial admissions policies at UT is not racist. T to get is unconstitutional and has been an ongoing issue at UT. They have lost Supreme Court cases with their illegal policies (i.e. Hopwood) and, like Leftists elsewhere repeatedly double down with clearly racist actions.

Should we believe our lying eyes or whatever data you're going to throw at us. All you need to do is take a trip to Costco or HEB in Frisco or any mall in Collin or Denton county. I was at the Galleria over Christmas and hadnt been there in maybe 15 years. It was shocking how much I felt like a minority. It was liike I was literally in Mumbai.
I grant the that the group photo was only a small part of the student section. I watched a video clip and it was clear there were others nearby. But French used this to point to a bigger and very real problem: universities snd their racist admissions policies that harm Americans. I have no problem with students earning a slot, regardless of ethnicity. I do have a problem with racial discrimination no matter who is favored or harmed. The irony is that in universities, it is often Asians that are discriminated against along with whites and in favor of blacks. That has been an issue for many years. Harvard recently lost a Supreme Court case over it.
The Great Replacement is real and Americans of all backgrounds have legitimate concerns. We don't want the Dem crime wave of murders, raped, and thefts across the country. We don't support the invasion of illegals responsible for much of the violence along with fraud and helping the Dems steal elections. I don't know about UT Austin, but I worked down the street from UT Arlington and had an in on writing auto insurance for a bunch of Indian students. They all were very nice #1, but most of the guys planned on heading back home when they graduated. The students at UT looked like they were rabid fans and if they weren't 2nd generation sure have adopted to the UT culture quickly. I don't see how I could have a problem with them at all. All are looking to improve their lives and they seem to be having a bit of fun on the side.

Blaming Texans or Americans for not wanting to be demographically replaced in a single lifetime...while not holding the rest of the world to this same standard is utter and horrible hypocrisy.
What a racist trope. First, you have no idea whether those specific kids are from India, Asia, or Lorena. Second, the more general idea that we are being swamped by Asians or Muslims has zero statistical support. While Asians are Texas's fastest-growing demographic, they comprise about 6% of the state's population, growing at an annual rate of 5-6% compared with an overall growth rate of about 1.5%. In other words, they constitute a small percentage of the population and will remain a minority. Third, America has always been about immigration. The same complaints you are making now were leveled against the Irish, the Italians, Eastern Europeans, and previous generations of Asians.
What really upsets you is not that they won't "assimilate," because they do assimilate. Going crazy at a college football game proves that point.
You and French are upset that so many of them are in the picture because they earned their way into a selective public school. If America is one thing, it is supposed to be a meritocracy.

I was at the Galleria over Christmas and hadnt been there in maybe 15 years. It was shocking how much I felt like a minority. It was liike I was literally in Mumbai.
