Your post admits that the DEI policies you are complaining about disfavor these groups. So how were the people in the photo supposed to represent DEI? Here is a clue--they weren't. They were at that game and in that school because they are smart and work hard. You, French, and all your compadres in this forum know it. But you still can't bring yourself to see them as Americans.

1. First of all the concept that citizenship should not be so easy to acquire and that mass migration should be slowed down is an opinion....not a trope.

Its a policy idea (expand and increase migration flows...or slow them down). Something to debate.

2. I have NOT made the argument that Asian immigration in Texas (East Asian or Indian subcontinent) is statistically that vast.

The statement I made in the response (and you did not even engage with it) was that Westerners in general are in fact far less racist and ethno-nationalist than other peoples on the planet currently.

That is shown is lots of surveys and data collected all over the world...

You seem very upset that Western peoples might have a problem with mass demographically changing migration levels. And don't seem at all concerned with the hypocrisy of India, Africa, Arab States, China, Israel, Etc. not having the same open door or welcoming stance toward immigrants of different backgrounds.

I mean at some point we have to touch on this "mass migration levels for thee, but not for me" attitude shown by many other Nations & peoples around the world.

3. I do in indeed support a meritocracy. That is the very reason I am against DEI type policies (at Baylor, UT-Austin, or anywhere else). If we can all be certain that a pure meritocracy is at play then it does NOT bother me if UT-Austin or Rice University become majority Asian through a fair & open enrollment process. Let the best grades and tests scores win out.

It is in fact the modern Left in the West that has a big problem with accepting meritocracy and the idea that in a real meritocratic system each group my not be exactly represented via their percentage of the general population.

Apparently not. Conservative groups filed the lawsuits, saying Asians are underrepresented in elite colleges because of DEI. Having been successful, conservatives are not upset that there are too many Asians at elite schools. Get your damn story straight. You have a pretty good idea that the people in the picture that French was upset about were not given their spots at UT; they earned them. If you are really for meritocracy and color-blind admissions, that picture is a success story.

The reason I am not concerned about Indian immigration policy is that they are not keeping anybody from America out of their country. If India and China said we will allow as many American immigrants in as America takes of our citizens, do you think there is some mad rush to get there?

You are making the same argument that racists have made in America for centuries. If someone is smart, willing ot work hard, and law-abiding, bring them in. We need the brain power and the work ethic.

But any current population on earth has the absolute inalienable right to determine what other groups of people it invites into its country to live there and be citizens.

[The internet says the first Hindu temple in Texas was built in 1982. Today there are 145 active Temples and 588,500 Indian Americans living in Texas (70% to 80% of them being Hindu). At the very least we can say this strong growth can be debated on the merits of if its helping or hurting the local Texans who lived there before them.

Me personally I have never meet a Hindu that I personally had a problem with or a bad interaction.]

You had me until point 3. America becoming a meritocracy is what is destroying this nation. Just because an Indian who went through puberty at 11 got a couple more points on a standardized test shouldnt override hundreds of years of history and loyalty to the nation.

Give the people w/ the deepest roots in this country priority over everyone else... anything else is cultural suicide.

As you pointed out, Indians arent going to allow foreigners to immigrate to India in mass and steal their jobs because they rightly place their own people first.

I am willing to debate whether Indian migration helps or hurts Texas when I hear one shred of evidence that it hurts. All I can see (and it's your post notes), the only actual objection seems to be "Well, yes, they are smart, work hard, have strong families, and are law-abiding, but gee, they look different."

American is NOT just an ideal....its a physically place...a country and a homeland for its citizens

That country does have various ideals. And some are in fact very universal...and some that are particular to Americans. And the country is itself quite open and welcoming of new comers in general.

But people like Sir Roger Scruton have long explained that a country is a tangible living community bound by a specific landscape/homeland, shared language, customs, and inherited institutions, history, and values.

So its more than just "ideals". And it would be as strange to love America for only ethno reasons as it is for you to love it only because people can immigrate to it.

(The internet says the first Hindu temple in Texas was built in 1982. Today there are 145 active Temples and 588,500 Indian Americans living in Texas (70% to 80% of them being Hindu). At the very least we can say this strong growth can be debated on the merits of if its helping or hurting the local Texans who lived there before them.

I think there is abuse in the system for H-1B visas (and other employment migration visas)...but that seems to be getting corrected under the current administration and the abuse of that system is general problem and not confined to one ethnic group.

I think there is abuse in the system for H-1B visas (and other employment migration visas)...but that seems to be getting corrected under the current administration and the abuse of that system is general problem and not confined to one ethnic group.

In my past responses I said specially that people are upset that "American citizenship should not be so easily sold that the demographics of entire States can't switch in a breathtaking short term. Not even a single lifetime."

That is a generally true opinion that many have of the system of mass migration that has taken place for decades. Its not a stance against Indians in particular.... but mass levels of change that many feel are wildly out of control.

Foreign born as a percentage of the US population is at an all-time high, right around 15%. Just about where it was in 1890. Immigration contracted sharply from 1920-1970 as our birth rate and life expectancy rose. The places of origin have shifted away from European countires to basically everywhere else in the world, with an emphasis on Mexico and Central America.

First, and maybe I am wrong, but I don't think the immigrants from outside Europe are preventing European immigration. Second, our birth rate is declining and our life expectancy has flat lined. Third, the world has a larger pool of educated people to offer and it is much smaller.

Given that it is hard to understand how we would replace the 100 million people David French wants to deport.

But people like Sir Roger Scruton have long explained that a country is a tangible living community bound by a specific landscape/homeland, shared language, customs, and inherited institutions, history, and values.

Well, it's a bit more than that with Epic City a planned exclusive Muslim enclave, the promoter of the city in the video said the purpose of the city was to bring Islam to the forefront. Of course, bringing Islam to the forefront, would include bringing Sharia law to the forefront.

If there were plans for an Epic City limited to Christian Nationalist and the purpose of it was to bring Christian Nationalism to the forefront, if that were the primary purpose of the city, you would be 100% against it. I too would be against it because I don't believe a specific city should be religion based or restrictive and exclude others, even if it were my favored religion.

mass migration does hurt communities and institutions though. It displaces citizens who'd normally fill these roles, it lowers wages, it impacts housing costs, and it burdens government institutions.

There is a place for controlled and limited immigration - Indians absolutely have a place in our work force and can be great people to work with. But it should not come at the expense of the citizenry.

First, Texas law regulates the number of out-of-state and international students who attend UT and eATMe. It is a low number as the vast majority of seats are reserved for in-state. And you are wrong-I wouldn't mind it if the law was 100% in state. There would be just as many Asians and Indians.

And by the way, both my daughters have their medical degrees from UT schools that they had no problem getting into. Their futures look pretty sweet. Because I taught them to work hard, study, and compete. You want it given to you.
