It's reasonable to have doubts based on recent events. I think Trump genuinely wants what is best for the country but he might not define that the same way as the rest of us. His biggest problem, though, is what it always has been: his narcissism.

Like Obama and many other public personalities (politicians, Hollywood, sports stars, etc) he's all into self promotion and rooting us horn. Sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's very cringe. Generally I find it off putting but I also ignore it because of the obvious accomplishments. Right now it seems he might have too much going on to manage it all.

Oh my Gorsh!!! You mean the Emperor has no clothes? I tip my hat to you, historian, for admitting that maybe Trump has gotten himself in over his head.

Trump 45 was a great President. Trump 47, I believe, will go down as one of the worst.

give me a break. The amount of improvement in just 2 years under Trump is amazing.

did you take a swinging drill pipe to the noodle???? he's done nothing but eff up everything he touches turns to chit.

list them lady boy

I don't even remember seeing you around here, Captain Coverall, , so you will fit right in hurling insults with no basis. (Trumpian)do know anyone named that Dr. Redneck. Zero objectives achieved in 1 man's war, no plan, can't get out. Inflation...yeah , tariffs really working. all prices up including gasoline and diesel . Diminished our standing in the world. Eroded trust with our friends and allies. Killing people in the streets ICEstoppo. Things seem going really well. Get back to the dog house and eat your samich.

Funny how you complain about insults while spending half your post calling people names. I listed ten specific accomplishments, not a claim that every problem in America has been solved.

Border apprehensions are down 94% from the Biden-era monthly average. The FBI reports violent crime fell 9.3% and murders dropped 18.1% in 2025. Tax deductions for qualifying tips and overtime are now law. NATO allies agreed to significantly increase defense spending. Those are documented facts, whether you like Trump or not.

I'll give you inflation and fuel prices. They're legitimate problems, and Iran is certainly worth debating. But none of that erases the other results.

If you think my list is wrong, pick a specific item and explain why. Throwing around insults and political talking points isn't much of a rebuttal.

Outside of the border achievement, the rest are mostly superficial or political give aways. Crime trends were already falling. NATO spending of European allies is mostly infrastructure and health and welfare expenditures. In fact there's been a decline in NATO and allied nations new purchase of U.S. weaponry, an unintended consequence of the "FU allies" approach of this administration. This in the midst of an active war in the theater. And it's hard to brag about regulatory reductions while simultaneously overlaying one of the largest and broadest tariff schemes in the history of the United States. So, border policy - amazing. The rest - meh.

Border crossings were already falling too.

It was a significant reduction from prior trends. Credit goes where it's due.

I agree that crime was already declining before Trump, and I wouldn't give him all the credit. But violent crime and murders have continued to fall significantly. That's hardly superficial.

Your NATO argument is simply inaccurate. The new agreement requires at least 3.5% of GDP for core military defense, with up to 1.5% for broader security and infrastructure. That's not mostly health and welfare spending. NATO also reports that European allies and Canada increased actual defense spending nearly 20% in 2025. You're correct that U.S. weapons sales to NATO allies declined, but attributing that entirely to Trump's approach ignores other documented factors.

I'll also acknowledge that tariffs have costs. I don't agree with every tariff Trump imposes. But that doesn't somehow erase legitimate regulatory reductions, new tax deductions for tips and overtime, or expanded tax incentives for domestic investment and R&D. Those are actual policy changes with measurable financial implications.

You can certainly debate whether the benefits outweigh the costs. That's a reasonable discussion. But dismissing everything except the border as superficial or political giveaways ignores quite a few documented accomplishments.

I don't believe Trump deserves credit for everything good that happens, but I also don't believe he deserves blame for everything bad. I'd rather evaluate the actual results than simply decide everything he does is either wonderful or terrible.
I came for the rumors, stayed for the overreactions.
