About to say....Is no one above the law or only some politicians exempt?
If you can raid the home of a President then why not a Representative?

Yes....we still refer conversationally to ex-Presidents and ex-Congressman by their title while in office.
[In formal settings, official correspondence, and introductions, it is customary to address a former president as "President [Last Name]" or "Mr. President."]
And I don't think anyone on here thinks the FBI would raid the home of a President while he/she was in office and in control of the Executive Branch.

The only explanation given for this raid is that Omar married her brother to get into the US…which is not very plausible, considering that she married nine years after becoming a citizen.

I know how former presidents are addressed. The implications of raiding current and former office holders are still somewhat different.

And let's keep it 100! Who hasn't married or dated their brother? I just hung up with mine. It's his birthday. I'm just glad we remained close after the divorce.
And yes, this is political!

If Omar is re-elected, shouldn't the investigation be dropped? And the results to date sealed? Gag order?
Just wondering.

They won't. Still going after Lisa Cook

You should raid whoever's home evidence and probable cause deems legal and necessary. Anything outside of those qualifications should be viewed as abuse of power and punishable by law.

No one is supposed to be above the law (in office or not)
And you made the point that it was somehow better that the former President was out of office.
Well no President in office would sign off on the department they control raiding their own personal home.
So the point makes no sense

It is better that he was out of office. DOJ has a policy against prosecuting sitting presidents for a reason.
Raiding members of Congress is also a dangerous practice. We'll have to wait and see whether it was necessary in this case.

Unclear. They've suggested that she somehow immigrated under false pretenses. That's not possible as she arrived as a child and became a citizen before 18.
It's under 40 days before the election. Unprecedented to do something like this this close to voting. But hey, "Somali Bad" sells to some.

You better hope it's something more substantial than that, because if it is that's a terrible look for DHS. Certainly not worth breaking norms to raid her home right before an election.
I have no particular knowledge about immigration law, but I can't imagine we're still within the criminal statute of limitations period for something like that. She's 42yrs old, and you're talking about something thay may have happened more than 20yrs ago...

Now Junior, have you already forgotten that when you dumocrats last had power your President Auto Pen's wesponized DOJ raided her home (even rummaged her underwear drawer) based on manufactured charges and of course everything ultimately fell apart in court. And I assure you with all of the exhaustive investigations of Trump and his family, if the First Lady had any immigration issues we would all know about it.
Now, it's time for your TDS meds, and don't forget to call your psychiatrist in the morning.

Yes, we will - and I look forward to her being held to account in court.
