From what I have read most of the soldiers in Ukraine do not want to be there but have been forced. They didn't start the war. Putin did. The generals keep it going. The average soldier is just a pawn.

Ukraine may be fighting for many things (e.g. wealth, resources, ethnic supremacy), but freedom is certainly not one of them.

Yea, a disgruntled ex-staffer who spews Russian propaganda all over traditional and social media.

But regardless, Zelensky is a different issue than why Ukrainians want to defend their country. Strong majority has consistently supported defending their freedom.

"Nearly half (49.3%) of Ukrainians believe that high levels of corruption at the government level have the most negative impact on the situation in Ukraine, while 44.6% of respondents cited constant drone and missile attacks on infrastructure as the most negative factor."

Again, you keep raising new issues. Who has argued that people in Ukraine are peachy happy?

You actually further prove my point. Despite all the problems, they support the war effort.

LONDON - Most Ukrainians now favor ending the war with Russia through negotiations, as support for fighting until victory has dropped sharply since the early days of the conflict. Although their hopes for joining NATO and the European Union have faded and approval of U.S. leadership has plummeted, Ukrainians still see the EU, U.K. and U.S. as key to ending the war. Yet, most doubt that will happen anytime soon.

More than three years into the war, Ukrainians' support for continuing to fight until victory has hit a new low. In Gallup's most recent poll of Ukraine - conducted in early July - 69% say they favor a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible, compared with 24% who support continuing to fight until victory.

This marks a nearly complete reversal from public opinion in 2022, when 73% favored Ukraine fighting until victory and 22% preferred that Ukraine seek a negotiated end as soon as possible.

Now dig deeper. Negotiations, yes, under any terms close to what Putin demands, a clear no. In other words, what the vast majority of Ukrainians and Ukraine supporters (me included) have said from the start.

I get it, Ukraine was bombing the hell out of Russian refineries and taking back land in Ukraine. It has to hurt to have to be bailed out by Trump.

Yall expected Ukraine to fold in 3 days. Yet there they stand!

Ukraine holds precious little of the Donbas as it is. Most of what Russia claims but doesn't yet control is in the other two oblasts, and that's what they would have given up.

Security guarantees were part of the plan according to Witkoff. I don't believe there was any mention of compulsory trade. And Ukraine agreed to neutrality a long time ago.

They control key defensive areas. Lose them or give them up, and all of Ukraine falls. And many area Russia controls are still contested as well.

There was security language, but far short of guarantee. Just empty words. It's actually worse than what we promised when Ukraine gave up its nukes.

As for trade, considerable ambiguity on the Black Sea, joint energy, etc,

Those areas will be lost anyway, just like Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Avdiivka, and the rest. The only question is whether the Russians will agree to stop there.

In any case, it's ironic to talk about Ukraine fighting for freedom in the territories it was actively trying to subjugate on the eve of the war.

I get it, Ukraine was bombing the hell out of Russian refineries and taking back land in Ukraine. It has to hurt to have to be bailed out by Trump.

Yall expected Ukraine to fold in 3 days. Yet there they stand!

On the contrary, most Ukrainians are open to territorial concessions.

The Anchorage plan wasn't far from that.

All of Donbas, no security guarantees, shell of a military, neutrality, Constitutional changes, compulsory trade. More.

Maybe, maybe not. But the people have decided they're worth defending against a murderous tyrant. And they've but up a historically heroic fight.

No subjugation. Fiction.

It is a fact that the people of Donbas wanted at least autonomy, if not independence. If a small part of their territory is indeed what's standing in the way of a peace agreement, then it must be recognized that Kiev is fighting to rule a people who don't want to be ruled.

That's not really clear based on the wording of the 2014 referendum. What we do know is that they at least supported autonomy, they fought a civil war over it, and they appear to have supported annexation as of 2022. Not surprising after years of brutal attacks on civilians by Kiev.

Of course this could all have been settled with implementation of the Minsk Agreement, which Zelensky and everyone else claimed to support when he took office.

It was not a civil war. It was Russian military and others crossing the border and a relatively small group of separatists.

Zelensky supported Minsk and took a big political hit supporting and working toward the Steinmeier Formula. Minsk never worked because the parties had different interpretations and, if we're all honest, both sides violated the various iterations.

Every single poll from 2012 to mid-2014 showed a small minority in the east wanted to be part of Russia and strong majorities wanting to remain part of Ukraine.

A lot changed in 2014. If you're denying that there was a civil war, we'll have to agree to disagree. I would note that much of the fighting in Donbas is being done by local militias who are either fighting alongside the Russian army or who have joined it outright.

France and the rest of Western Europe where your ancestors came from are all currently gettting destroyed and centuries old buildings and monuments are being burned to the ground by predominantly african and arab invaders from the 3rd world and your primary concern is wars for Ukraine and Israel?

Turn off Fox News for a second and use your brain. We are funding the supplying the wrong battles. You were still a military age male when your government bombed the Christian Nationalist Serbs in favor of invading jihadi muslims in the Balkans.

Russia could be a great ally against Islam and 3rd worldism but Boomer idiots are poisoning the relationship.

Russia has more Muslims than the countries you're taking about combined, and the # is growing.

So odd that you're concerned about outsiders taking over our allies, yet ironically an evil tyrant literally invaded and is trying to take over an ally, and it's "hey, I have a great idea, let's partner with the evil tyrant who hates Christians except the shill Russian church."

So odd that you're concerned about outsiders taking over our allies, yet ironically an evil tyrant literally invaded and is trying to take over an ally, and it's "hey, I have a great idea, let's partner with the evil tyrant who hates Christians except the shill Russian church."

I doubt the Russian Christians are thrilled with the presence of large amounts of muslims in their country... how many times has Russia gone to war with Chechnya?

I'm not thrilled Russia invaded Ukraine solely because its a brother war... but the neo-cons poured the gas and set the fuse on this conflict and they've stolen and devalued my life savings to keep it running.

Also Zelensky is a scumbag and the only reason he is still alive is because the Russians recognize what a PR nightmare the guy is and it helps them tremendously that he is the figurehead of Ukraine and not someone charismatic, modest, and likeable.

From what I have read most of the soldiers in Ukraine do not want to be there but have been forced. They didn't start the war. Putin did. The generals keep it going. The average soldier is just a pawn.

Ukraine may be fighting for many things (e.g. wealth, resources, ethnic supremacy), but freedom is certainly not one of them.

lol. You're an idiot.

Zelensky can flee to Israel and they'll protect him like his comrade that stole $100 million of US tax payer funding for Ukraine.
