Oh, I guess I forgot to add "attempting to delegitimize the election process" to the things I expect the president to NOT do.
You do realize the democrats have spent the past 2 years trying to delegitimize the 2016 election results, right? Please excuse me while I say "you can't be serious Clark."
Reublicans spent 8 years trying to delegitmize Obama's election, and he won the popular vote twice. The birthers (including Donald J. Trump) say hi.
If you want to have a conversation about deligitimizing elections, let's talk about the 8 years Republicans spent trying to delegitimize Obama's elections. And he won the popular vote. Twice. The birthers, including Donald J. Trump, were just the start, and the treatment Merrick Garland received was the grand finale. It was particularly galling to hear Republicans huffing and puffing about Kavanaugh's treatment after what they did to Garland.
Plus Republicans have also engaged in sustained campaigns of voter suppression and gerrymandering, to the point where redistricting plans such as the one in North Carolina specifically engineered to minimize the impact of black voters "with surgical precision" (acoording to a Fourth Circuit opinion) have been overturned.
What Trump has been called out for is his active efforts to undermine the rule of law, to claim powers for the president that don't exist, to put in place cabinet members and other appointees who would place loyalty to Trump above loyalty to country, violating whatever oath of office they take when they're sworn in and placed on the government's (and not Trump's personal) payroll.
At least once a month someone posts a thread about dissing the flag. Trump & Co. have given the flag a golden shower and lowered the U.S.'s reputation globally. His supporters are the most unpatriotic people in our nation, because they support Trumpism over the constitution--and they lie about it by loudly proclaiming the two are one and the same.
Shame on the lot of you.
Republicans falsely accused Merrick Garland of being a gang rapist? Wow, I can't believe I missed that story. Do you have any links so I can catch up?
First, note that Merrick Garland did not even GET a hearing.
THAT is why I was hoping the Democrats would take the Senate. Because they owe the GOP one, and maybe when the shoe's on the other foot, everyone will figure out just how bad these sort of shenanigans are for maintaining any sort of faith in our legal system to be fair and impartial, which does not even appear to be a goal of Republicans. At all. Fair and impartial justice is for pu--sies. Which Trump can grab anytime he pleases, because the GOP lets him.
Second, Kavanaugh did not face accusations of being a gang rapist in the Senate Judiciary committee.
He did not even face a second credible accusation of exposing himself to a Yale classmate as an act of cruelty during college.
He faced one credible accusation of assaulting a girl when he was drunk and out of control in high school.
HE managed to bring the "gang rape" allegations into the discussion, as an attempt to discredit Blasey Ford. There was also the implication that the Democrats had something to do with these accusations. If they did, shame on them.
Feinstein wasn't even going to bring Blasey Ford's allegations forward until Ford herself realized her name was going to be besmirtched no matter what she did, and in that case, testifying before the Senate committee was probably the least of all of the evils.
Boy was she ever wrong about that; Senate Republicans really embarrassed themselves in that hearing as they fell all over themselves defending Kavanaugh's awful behavior.
I know you and others posting here believe whatever spin the party, Fox and other right-wing publications have put out about Ford, and that you also believe she deserved having Trump make fun of her at one of his rallies.
She didn't. She tried to do her civic duty, and we all found out that, even in 2018, Senate Republicans are going to line up behind the white guy who has been positioned for a SCOTUS appointment for the last 20 years by the Federalist Society and GOP leaders even when he refuses to answer questions, lies under oath, treats seantors from the opposing party with extreme rudeness and disrespect, and blathers on about liking beer.
What a hystrionic piece of work. And I'm talking about him, not her.
I could cheerfully string Avanati and his client up by their toes by muddying the waters.
But their allegations weren't credible, and they weren't considered.
Neither were the 2 credible allegations against Kavanaugh. Because he threw a tantrum and Trump liked it. That's awful government,a nd Republicans rubber-stamped it.
