Statements like this are one of the many many reasons democrats have zero credibility. Opposing a woman isn't misogyny. Opposing a black isn't racism. On the contrary, making accusations to protect "protected classes" is bigotry. It shows you see them as week and less skilled/able.

Congrats! You're a bigot.

I would love to see the Democrats put up a serious candidate, but I just don't know who that person would be based on the current field of hopefuls. Most all of them are TOO polarizing for most of those in the middle. I think Joe Biden missed his window back in 2016. Just my opinion.

Dems could run Reagan, you'd note vote for him. He'd be too "radical" and leftist.
Reagan was a good one. I think he won in 1980 not because of his policies, but because he wasn't Jimmy Carter.

But if he put a D behind his name instead of an R, he'd be hated as a leftist liberal.
Similarly, had Obama had a R behind his name, he'd be hated as a Uncle Tom, sell out, white woman loving, no experience lightweight by Democrats. (Some of that may be accurate anyway.)

Nope. First, I don't hate uncle Toms. Second, he's not "white woman loving". Third, he represents good and hard work. Many of us can get behind that.

Finally, in Texas, you can vote in either primary to ensure you have a first and second choice in November. (Theoretically).
He proposed to Sheila Jager before Michelle. Political aspirations came before love.

Quote:

Personal life
In the 1980s, Jager lived with Barack Obama, then a community organizer in Chicago. In winter 1986, Obama asked her parents if he could marry her, but they objected. Shortly after he entered the Harvard Law School, Obama proposed to Jager a second time, but she rejected him. Their relationship was only made public in May 2017, several months after the end of Obama's two-term presidency, in David Garrow's Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama.

Jager married Jiyul Kim, a U.S. Army veteran and history professor at Oberlin College. They have four children, and they reside in Ohio.

I wouldn't necessarily say Political aspirations came before love, like many many other people, the first love doesn't work out and you go to plan B. Some folks get to plan G, before they find someone who sticks.

Being honest looking at Jager and Mrs. Obama he came out way ahead at least as far as looks.

Underestimate her at your own peril. The GOP isn't, they are doing a full court press of propaganda on her to try and brand her as unlikeable (similar strategy as what worked against Hillary). I don't think she wins the Dem primary tbh, but she would be formidable in a general election juxtaposed against Trump (to be fair, almost anyone compares favorably side-by-side with Trump). There simply aren't any other politicians out there with her base of knowledge of banking and tax laws (she literally wrote the law-school books on those subjects), and those can be powerful issues these days. plus she grew up middle-class in Oklahoma, that would be a strong counter for her to use against a "billionaire" New Yorker (hence the reason for the Pocahontas jab, he wants to negate that entire period of her life from being campaigned on because he knows it doesn't favor him).

One bad thing about coming out of the starting gate early is that the right-wing news media can do their full-court press on you for much longer. Everyone knew Hillary would be the candidate in 8 years, and the Fox/Breitbart/Limbaugh machine spent that time branding her as evil incarnate while Gowdy and Issa busily investigated her up the wazoo. She should have bowed out and backed either Biden (more electable) or Sanders (possibly electable against Trump), but she clearly was never going to do that. She felt just as entitled to the presidency as Kavanaugh felt to that SCOTUS seat he'd been promised for years. Wish she'd been successful and he hadn't.

That is far from true. If you see the country as polarized and she can get through SC, she can run to the nomination. SC, Super Tuesday, then she can run through the western states.

Now it's Warren v. Trump. He's wearing out his welcome.

I'd not sleep on anyone. Whoever wins starts out with 45+ % of the vote.

Gracious man . Go look into a mirror and get some introspection.

I object to the general direction of the progressive side of the Democratic party and the general plank in the democratic platform that advocates unrestricted abortion up to birth, a plank I heard Clinton expouse. Unless Warren would refute and disavow such a policy direction, she is my political enemy.

She is also kooky, makeing such a big deal out of the potential she has as little as 1/10 of 1% of possibly native Americans blood in her.

The average Hispanic has about 20% native, they don't drone on about it, even though likely over 100 times more than goofy Warren.

Anyway, continue your false straw man analogy, you must get some perverted joy out of calling decent individuals racist, bigoted, sexist, mysonogist when the fact is they are none of the above.

There is no joy in the racism, hate, denial, mysonogist ,sexism and bigotry. Why be joyful at hate? It destroys one. But hatefulnes is the truth. See G II for pure hate. I would say he is a Christian hypocrite for his hate but he will not say simply "I am a Christian." Oldbear83 is full of hate for me personally (I'm a likable guy) but I challenge his blind belief in the Biblical orthodoxy (not his faith. He is a disciple Christ) and how pro life position. He hates me Fe and my positions.
(Sorry The digression) But racism and mysonogy in others brings me no joy. It deeply saddens me.

Warren is not electable as president.

But she is not a loon. She just has very different political views from you and other hard-core conservatives.

Can we have a civilized conservation without calling people like Warren, who worked her way through law school and ended up teaching at Harvard after earning her law degree at Rutgers--not typically a school that produces legal academics--a loon?

Conservatives have helped turn our country into an utterly miserable place to live. Too much of our opportunities are governed by...three credit bureas, who have free rein to surveil all of our financial transactions and apply scoring mechanisms that are so intrusive they rank you not only on what you buy but where you shop. Warren is trying to protect people from that and make sure those systems are transparent. Republcians are trying to undermine those efforts.

Health care in this country is another nasty bureaucracy, even if you have good insurance. It is virtually impossible to figure out what your out-of-pocket costs will be--we got a different number from everyone we asked before my husband's recent surgery. And the ultimate cost to us--$2500 (a bargain considering the procedure and its benefits), wasn't one of those numbers. We'd been told $450, $150, $700--nothing over $1,000. The care we received was outstanding. Scheduling the procedure and getting it pre-authorized was a nightmare. Who wants to spend their "free time" like that? And the people who don't have good insurance die sooner, and of treatable conditions. What's good about that? One value of a national health system is that you aren't at the mercy of billing departments dealing with hundreds of different insurance plans and sending out inscrutible bills with no itemization. And a lot of the benefits of NOT having a national system--long waits, they schedule you rather than you schedule them--are totally gone. We had to wait weeks for a phone call from the surgery scheduler. The surgeon said we'd hear from someone to schedule the procedure within a week. We didn't hear for almost a month. What we have are all of the disadvantages of national healthcare and none of hte advantage, so we pay 5 times as much for a much worse continuity of care.

The criminal justice system has turned into a Dickensian debtors prison that preys on poor people.

The Supreme Court's credibility has been undermined by partisan appointments, and instead of doing something to maintain its credibility, Republicans have doubled down to pack the courts with judges the ABA--hardly a liberal institution--doesn't think are qualified.

We can't have conversations about how to deal with serious issues like climate change because Reublicans choose to operate under the fiction that a huge increase in human population plus a huge increase in industrialization aren't heating up the planet when they clearly are.

Idiots like Ted Yoho don't realize that other countries are looking at the government shutdown due to Trump's tantrum, his seeming immunity to real investigation and prosectuion, his undermining of the rule of law, his blaming everything that goes wrong on advisers or staffer HE picked and taking responsibility for things he had nothing to do with, and his irrational isolation, abrupt firings, and changes in policy cuz Ann Couter and thinking and thinking the U.S. is headed toward banana Republic(an) status sooner rather than later.

Disagre with Warren all you want. But she's not a loon. And she's not corrupt. She's a real public servant, trying to make things better. Mitt Romney is one of the few Republicans trying to do the same. I don't agree with much he wants to do, but I think his desire for public service is real and that his policy positions are genuinely based on what he thinks is best for America and not what he thinks will line his pockets and those of his family members fastest or feed his ego the most, like Trump, or what will undermine democracy to assure Republicans control as much of government as possible, like McConnell.

As it is, we are ceding primacy to the Chinese. Who don't give a damn about the quality of life of their people, either, but at least are honest about it instead of claiming they're going to make America great while making this society an increasingly miserable place to live and raise a family.
