He won't talk anymore to Congress or anyone, except to say, "Read my report".

Not sure I buy that.

Although he stated in the report that he found no evidence of Trump or anyone else colluding with the Russians, he still *thinks* Trump may have committed a crime. What a crock.

If we had had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so'

I am sure Trump and AntiTrumps have mixed feelings about this. Mueller gives me the impression of a guy just doing his job, and trying his best to stay clear of the politics. He will answer a subpoena from Congress, but will decline to answer questions beyond the purview of the report. Democrats have a decision to make...

I found him to be very clear. It's not his job to charge the president. There is a constitutional process for charging a president with a crime.

Guilty til proven innocent.

Wait, I thought it was innocent til proven guilty.

The former is correct is it's Democrats and the MSM accusing a Republican. I always forget the exception.

Mueller should be ashamed for his comments.

It's pretty evident they were hoping all the SC leaks and media hits would win Dems the house and the senate. He HAD to have known within the first couple of months that Trump and his campaign didn't collude...yet he strung this thing out past midterms to effect them.

Impeachment and removal was the goal and that didn't happen.

He truly sounds terrified. Shaky voice, disregard for "innocent until proven guilty", punting impeachment to Dems. Dude is going down.

Mueller in today's statements "If I knew that he didn't commit a crime - I would say so."

Have you ever heard "Innocent until proven guilty"?

"Can you prove it didn't happen?"

This type of fallacy coming from a DOJ official and someone who ran the FBI is embarrassing.

This. Report. Does. Not. Conclude. That. The. President. Committed. A. Crime.

Mueller feeding the wolves so they can focus on Trump and not him. He's a coward and doesn't want to face questions. I hope the GOP brings him in.

He basically says they couldn't find evidence that Trump committed a crime but they couldn't prove he didn't. That's not his job and you could basically say that about anybody in the country.

More proof this was just all political and Mueller knew there was no collusion way before the 2018 mid terms and still sat on it so they could allow false hateful accusations towards the GOP & Trump that he was a Russian spy and a fraud. He needs to answer to why he kept it going so long when he knew there was no collusion almost 2 years ago.

Bob Mueller: "we can't indict the president because of OLC guidelines".

Also Bob Mueller to Bill Barr: "No we didn't consider the OLC guidelines when we made our determination x 3".

BOTH STORIES CANT BE TRUE.

Mueller either lied to America or to Barr.

Barr lied. Mueller has no reason to lie. Barr basically lied about the entire report when he released his summary.
TMWISH
How long do you want to ignore this user?

No it didn't. Mueller was clear he started his investigation into Russian meddling into the 2016 election and found they did meddle in the election. He indicted multiple foreign nationals for that. He also found the Trump campaign was receptive to the idea of the Russians meddling in the election and he found that during the investigation evidence Trump attempted to obstruct the investigation multiple times. Now he is not allowed to charge or claim Trump did obstruct while in office(that is congress job), but he is allowed to document all this information for future record for when Trump does leave office.

Also obstruction of justice is a crime even if you didn't commit the crime you are being investigated for. You cannot impede an ongoing investigation just because you believe/know you are innocent. You have to follow the law even if you don't like being investigated.
TMWISH
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes because as Mueller stated he literally cannot come to that conclusion. He was able to conclude other people committed crimes several of them former members of Trumps campaign or staff. But for trump all he could do is collect evidence of his crimes for future reference.

The legalease is what's saving Trump's butt at least for the time being. Barr-Cohn clearly lied about Mueller's position. Because he was constrained by the OLC "policy" that one "should not" indict a sitting president, his charge was to clear or not clear Trump of wrong doing. The overwhelming evidence he gathered compelled him not to clear Trump. There's no other way to look at this.

But POTUS did not impede the investigation. He completely complied with it.

Mueller doesn't have prosecutorial power, the DOJ does, and the DOJ determined that the law they cited for obstruction did not hold up.

Mueller is lying his ass off and counting on you and me not to know the difference.

He knows it's far from clear that a president can't be prosecuted. Barr has testified under oath about the conversation where Mueller informed him of his decision not to decide on obstruction of justice. This was only a couple of weeks before the report was completed. Rosenstein was also present. They asked Mueller why he wasn't making a decision, and Mueller replied that the reasons were still being formulated. Mueller stated three times that it was not the OLC opinion preventing him from finding obstruction. He stated that if there were sufficient evidence, he would recommend that the attorney general abandon the OLC opinion, but that this was not such a case.

If Mueller thought the facts warranted indictment, he would have recommended it and let the attorney general and the courts deal with the constitutional issues. He would have done his job and let them do theirs. There's a good reason why he went out of his way to say he won't testify about anything outside the four corners of the report. He knows good and well that if he's asked about the conversation with Barr he'll either have to perjure himself or admit his decision had nothing to do with the OLC.

A lot of people ask why Trump would object to the investigation if he didn't do anything wrong. The answer should be obvious now. It was a lose-lose situation and a total smear job from the beginning.

DOJ has no power to indict Trump so they can't conclude he did commit a crime. Mueller provided multiple pieces of evidence that Trump attempted to obstruct. We don't know that he did or did not commit a crime, but we certainly have evidence he did

Do you realize that you have to prove someone committed a crime? You're making the assertion that Mueller need to prove POTUS didn't commit a crime to clear him of obstruction: That's not how this works.

The foundation of our justice system is that we are innocent until found guilty.

Mueller said that the indictments "contain allegations and we are not commenting on the guilt or innocence of any specific defendant."

"Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."

Had he stopped there, he would have been correct. But then he crafted a brand new standard.

"The order appointing the special counsel authorized us to investigate actions that could obstruct the investigation. We conducted that investigation and kept the office of the acting attorney general apprised of our work," Mueller said. "After that investigation, if we had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so."

According to Mueller and his team, charged Russians are presumed innocent. An American president, however, is presumed guilty unless and until Mueller's team determines he is innocent.
