Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:
In her latest manifesto, Linda Livingstone basically proposed such action. Baylor will sell its soul to be politically correct.

Amen. I hear it's going to be called, "Virtue Signaling 101."PartyBear said:
I praise Livingston for dragging Baylor out of the mid 20th century and into the 21st actually.
When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

Assuming students will be racist or have racial issues without this mandatory course is offensive.
The difficulty in these classes is how to grade them. Does one have to hold a certain opinion to get an A?Friscobear said:
Sounds like an easy A.
It takes a special kind of Snowflake to be "Offended" about Racial equality classes in the backdrop of current eventsDoc Holliday said:A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

I attended Health and Safety courses in a previous job, I didnt get offended that my employers thought i was a clumsy idiot who would hurt myself without them, but then again, I'm not a Snowflake.
You're assuming that's what these classes will achieve and then declaring me sinister for not agreeing with it.cms186 said:It takes a special kind of Snowflake to be "Offended" about Racial equality classes in the backdrop of current eventsDoc Holliday said:A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

White Privilege is a fact, there are plenty of stats to back it up (Unemployment, Earnings, Crime etc.), it does not mean that being White is a crime, its aim is not to punish you for being White, it is not berating you for being White, its merely a reflection on the fact that the average White Person has a better lot in life than a Person of Colour
These classes do not assume you will be racist if you dont attend, I attended Health and Safety courses in a previous job, I didnt get offended that my employers thought i was a clumsy idiot who would hurt myself without them, but then again, I'm not a Snowflake.

I would imagine these classes would be graded like any other in that you'd be graded on your knowledge and grasp of the material. A neo-Nazi can ace world history. That proof can also likely be found on this board.

Did your previous employer let you go because you were a clumsy idiot or you weren't a snowflake ?
I assume its what they aim to achieve, whether or not thats what they will actually achieve is another thingDoc Holliday said:You're assuming that's what these classes will achieve and then declaring me sinister for not agreeing with it.cms186 said:It takes a special kind of Snowflake to be "Offended" about Racial equality classes in the backdrop of current eventsDoc Holliday said:A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

See, this is the kind of behavior I'm talking about. We're not in agreement of what this class will actually accomplish and teach.
I believe teaching kids about the concept of white privilege (which is what the description says) is not appropriate. I believe it's a 'class guilt' concept and will only further divide us.
I believe it will further divide us and make things worse.cms186 said:I assume its what they aim to achieve, whether or not thats what they will actually achieve is another thingDoc Holliday said:You're assuming that's what these classes will achieve and then declaring me sinister for not agreeing with it.cms186 said:It takes a special kind of Snowflake to be "Offended" about Racial equality classes in the backdrop of current eventsDoc Holliday said:A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:

White Privilege is nort about imposing guilt on someone, its about seeing an unfair imbalance in the world, acknowledging it and working to make it better, not in way that punishes you for being White (because "Positive" Discrimination is still discrimination), but in a way that doesnt punish someone for not being White.

My Reasoning is simple, I will offer you statistics (from the UK) that show what i am saying is correct:Doc Holliday said:I believe it will further divide us and make things worse.cms186 said:

We disagree,
Don't give me an emotional argument, give me your reasoning why my view is incorrect and why your's is right.
If you'd prefer Statistics from the US (understandable, this is a discussion about events in the US), this list seems fairly persuasive and includes citations: https://www.dosomething.org/us/facts/11-facts-about-racial-discriminationDoc Holliday said:I believe it will further divide us and make things worse.cms186 said:I assume its what they aim to achieve, whether or not thats what they will actually achieve is another thingDoc Holliday said:You're assuming that's what these classes will achieve and then declaring me sinister for not agreeing with it.cms186 said:It takes a special kind of Snowflake to be "Offended" about Racial equality classes in the backdrop of current eventsDoc Holliday said:A class that discusses white privilege is extremely offensive to white people who don't buy into that narrative.cms186 said:right and these classes have said they will berate you for being White?Doc Holliday said:When the class berates you for being white, yes.cms186 said:Educating people about Racism is selling its soul? :/Stranger said:
