I am all for taking down the statutes of traitors to our country, and every single conservative that I have discussed the issue with feels the same as I do. I am against taking down the statutes and I had an ancestor who was a Union soldier who died during the civil war.

To my knowledge the Confederates never committed any war crimes or killed civilians on the level of Sherman's march.

But the main reason I want to keep them is bcs this is a part of American history and culture! The civil war shaped this country is 100 different ways, good and bad. And these statues were put up by Americans who wanted to honor their ancestors and I respect that!
