The answer is Due Process and the presumption of innocence. They don't want an investigation. They want the officer arrested immediately and punished for his crime. They basically said as much.

If they don't play again It is more of a player's strike than a boycott. Usually player strikes are for wages and/or collective bargaining, things under the owner's control. They are striking over issues the NBA ownership cannot control. Do NBA players have a right to boycott games for things they see as injustice? Absolutely, yes.
Does it make sense to do so? Absolutely not. This will hurt the NBA financially and it was already being seen as viewership numbers were almost cut in half once play resumed and they were allowed to have their social messages on their jerseys.
It's clear that the majority of people just want to watch sports and not have political opinions shoved down our throats. It's hard to believe in social injustice when everyone there is making multi-millions of dollars. It actually proves that this country is not in fact racist but a capitalistic society where if you can bring value, you will be paid.
They have every right to protest, the viewers have every right to not watch. It's showing and will continue to show that it will be a bad business decision by the NBA, which will in turn, hurt the players paychecks.
