Running Recruiting Tidbits
December 4th(GG, 9:17 am) Baylor is taking a serious look at Montgomery (AL) Park Crossing defensive tackle and Wake Forest commit Bernard Gooden as a potential offer. Brian Nance just started talking to the three-star prospect this past week and called him again this morning. The 6'2, 278-pound prospect has been committed to Wake Forest since July but is very open to other options. Gooden has family in Texas and he is very interested in Baylor. Based on conversations I have had with him I think IF Baylor offers the staff will have a great chance to flip him and I will put a prediction in for him to flip to Baylor as well. (GG, 8:39 am) Hutchinson C.C. defensive lineman Isaiah Iton released his top six which somewhat surprisingly did not include Baylor. The 6'3, 290-pound prospect had Florida State, Missouri, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Maryland in his top group. So Baylor misses out on a potential immediate impact guy up front for the defensive line. The staff is still in a bit of a standstill at the moment at the position as no new offers have gone out in a few weeks since Iton and Je'lin Samuels earned their offers. Seems like the staff may be looking to go for multiple transfers at the defensive tackle position currently unless more offers go out soon. Former LSU nose tackle Siaki Ika is an obvious transfer target who the Bears will pursue but there could end up being more.December 3rd(GG, 9:26 am) Baylor offered Klein Forest (TX) four-star prospect Ahmonte Watkins as a running back. My guess is due to the injury to Sqwirl Williams and the possibility that Lovett and/or Ebner could potentially leave made it more realistic for Baylor to take two running backs in the class. Watkins released a top four of TCU, Texas Tech, A&M, and Mississippi State before he got the Baylor offer. I think Baylor is in the running here and don't be surprised if the Bears are able to pull off a huge steal here as Tech has Cam'ron Valdez committed, TCU has three young and proven RB's playing on the depth chart, and A&M will want to hold off on taking him till they know where they stand with LJ Johnson Jr. Baylor has a shot here to pull off a surprise steal.(GG, 2:29 pm) I exchanged messages with Lebanon Trail (TX) wide receiver Drew Donley after he de-committed from Ole Miss earlier today. He told me that Baylor has not been in contact with him since mid-November so it seems Baylor may not have a lot of interest currently or were waiting on him to de-commit before pursuing. Donley's key schools of interest right now are Cincinnati, Tulsa, Arkansas State, and Hawaii.December 2nd(GG, 8:45 am) Penn State redshirt sophomore defensive back Trent Gordon entered the transfer portal a week ago right before Thanksgiving and Baylor is looking at him as a potential transfer addition. The 5'11, 200-pound prospect out of Manvel (TX) High School switched positions from cornerback to safety this season and ended up out of the starting lineup. The former three-star prospect had 30+ offers coming out of high school from Georgia, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, and many more. (GG, 8:45 am) Dallas (TX) Parish Episcopal offensive lineman Austin Uke has continued to blowup on the recruiting trail as he has added nine Power Five offers in the month of November and has de-committed from Holy Cross. The staff has been contacting him since early November but have watched all these other schools extend an offer throughout the month. Baylor is still in contact and they are evaluating him but it may be too late with only two weeks till the early signing period window opens. Also the staff waiting this long should signal that they aren't quite sold on him yet. (CB, 9:23 am) Baylor is going to take a look at Washington State grad transfer DT Lamonte McDougle (6-0, 290). McDougle began his career at WVU where he was a Freshman All-American in 2018. He hasn't played any game this fall and will have two years of eligibility remaining. He has 37 career tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.(GG, 10:54 am) Baylor reached out to Mansfield (TX) Legacy High School 2021 cornerback Ore Adeyi right before he committed to Northwestern over the weekend. It was more of an introduction but Adeyi already was pretty locked in with Northwestern prior to the conversation with the Baylor staff. The 5'10, 175-pound prospect was intrigued by Baylor's proximity to home and the Big 12 appeal. Since he committed it seems unlikely that Baylor will pursue but worth mentioning in case the staff circles back before signing day.December 1st(GG, 8:33 am) Marvin Covington will also be releasing his top five on December 5th so be on the lookout for that. I do believe Baylor will make the cut. As a side note I am not sure why he would release a top five since he is planning on signing in February, this could be a good sign that he is more open to signing during the early signing period as long as more offers don't come soon. GG, 8:17 am)Lake Ridge (TX) cornerback Marvin Covington went on a virtual tour to Baylor over the weekend with his family. They got to see the facility and campus with Dave Aranda, Joey McGuire, Brian Stewart, and Brian Nance. This was a big step in the right direction for both sides as it was very productive in building the relationship further. (GG, 8:17 am) Fort Bend Christian (TX) offensive lineman Remington Strickland has been a busy recruit as he has gone on visits to Oklahoma and Texas A&M over the past couple weeks. He told me Baylor is still in it for him but I think that will be tested by whether he shows up on Baylor's campus over the next two weekends possibly for the Oklahoma State game in Waco on the 12th. Back when he was offered I mentioned these schools being his top three with Michigan being the fourth, so far that has held true in his recruitment. (GG, 8:17 am) Hutchinson CC offensive lineman Isaiah Iton will be posting a top group graphic soon and as of right now I expect Baylor to make it on the list. Not sure how many he will cut it down to yet but the staff has been working hard to stay in contention for him even with the new offers.. November 30th(GG, 8:50 am) Sam Rayburn (TX) defensive end and SMU commit Je'lin Samuels continues to hear from the Baylor staff often as he has been made a priority over recent weeks since receiving his offer. There is still ground to be made up on SMU but Baylor is trying everything they can to build that relationship quickly. (GG, 8:50 am) Georgia Military College JUCO offensive lineman Anthony Belton de-committed from TCU last week and found himself with some significant interest from Florida State and UCF with Baylor also looking close to reaching out. The 6'6, 325-pound prospect will have three years to play two at the program he chooses and will be arriving in December. (GG, 8:50 am) Booker T. Washington (LA) high three-star wide receiver and Arizona commit Tyrese Johnson is now on the Baylor staff's radar for the 2021 class. He holds 18 offers from Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, and UCF among others. (BE, 9:30 am) Baylor commit Tevin Williams will not be enrolling early, but will be signing 12/16 with the rest of the class. Williams will compete in track and go for a state championship after falling in the state semi-finals Saturday. In this year, Williams wants to spend as much time with his friends as possible before heading off the college. (GG, 10:53 am) Baylor offers Kileen (TX) Shoemaker 2021 wide receiver Monaray Baldwin to become his first Power Five offer. The 5'10, 170-pound prospect has 1,125 total yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. (GG, 11:09 am) The staff has taken interest in Dartmouth grad transfer wide receiver Drew Estrada. The 6'0 190-pound prospect has earned offers from TCU, Florida State, Utah, and SMU since entering the portal. In 2019 he had 51 receptions for 827 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 222 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He played high school ball at Argyle HS.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a SicEm365 rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the SicEm365 Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide SicEm365 readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
