Brown is another big, physical, and athletic defensive player in the 2019 class. He attacks the ball relentlessly and tries to put the biggest hit on the offensive player every time. Even though he does that he also wraps up pretty effectively on his tackling. He plays with great instincts which allows him to play extremely fast and be ahead of the offense often. His size is terrific and it should allow him to put great weight on while keeping his athleticism. I think he will be a very disruptive player at the linebacker/safety position whether it is on blitzes, in coverage, or in the run game. He looks very natural on blitzes off the edge and he does a nice job not allowing himself to get blocked.

I do not know his testing numbers and that is something that is tough to overlook when thinking about a player’s profile. He looks fast on film but those numbers will be important to knowing just how effective he will be at the next level. Sometimes when he tackles he dips his helmet too low, this can lead to injury but it can also lead to missed tackles and extra yardage. It works in high school but he will need to work on that technique a little for the next level. He does not force a ton of turnovers which is a little concerning but he also only played three games his senior year so maybe he would have forced some more.

How I see him fitting in at Baylor

I see him playing the SLB position for Baylor even though safety is also an option. I think he is Blake Lynch 2.0 except he will be on defense his whole career and be more natural at it early. If his athleticism translates, he will be a load to deal with by his RS-SO season if not a year sooner. I do think he gets a redshirt his freshman year but plays in four games.

Rating Explained

His film is limited due to an injury his senior season and he did not test at camps so I am not sure just how athletic he is. If I knew his true testing numbers then he would be a four-star on our ratings.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a SicEm365 rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the SicEm365 Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide SicEm365 readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
