2021 Recruiting Names to Watch
I posted this in another thread but I have been getting quite a few questions about 2021 guys so thought I would go ahead and post this on the board. There are plenty of guys who have been on campus and been getting lots of attention from Baylor. I'll go through and mention some of the top ones. There are more but this is a good list of guys that Baylor has been in for a while and almost all have visited at some point. Again this is just a preliminary list as camps and film will bring new offers and priorities.QBKaidon Salter Eli Stowers RBDarius Hale Camar Wheaton Jordan Jenkins WRBlaine Green Bryson Green Ketron Jackson James BlackStrain Oronde Gadsden II TEWeston Wolff OLBennett Pitcher Reuben Fatheree Matthew Wykoff Jack Tucker DLJordon Thomas Shemar Turner Dametrious Crownover Chris Murray E'maurion Banks Albert Regis D'Marion Alexander Tunmise Adeleye LBKendrick Blackshire Rejhan Tatum Marsel McDuffie CBAJ Green Mark Wilson Keuan Parker SJardin Gilbert
6/9 Camp Recap
I did a quick camp recap but it was pretty much me being exhausted and tired from covering the camp. Here are the high points of last Sunday as we get ready for this Sunday's camp full of major talent.Alven Johnson is legit. He was the star of the camp at DL, not to say there were not other quality DL there. Johnson is raw, raw, raw, and is just a country strong kid. He's not cut in the chest, shoulders, or anywhere that looks like he's in a serious weight program. That part makes me think of where he could go and become once on campus. If a prospect is not topped out by a high school he has room to grow. Johnson has room to grow and despite him thinking he's more of a DE, he's going to be 270+ after a year. Johnson at DE was a powerful rusher with a great first step, but not elite like some of the lighter pass rushers as Trace Ford last year. The difference is Johnson had 30+ pounds and 2+ inches in height to some of those prospects. In a 3-4, Johnson will anchor the strong side and give a plus pass rush once his technique is refined.Johnson at DT showed an elite quickness for the interior. I've seen James Lynch dominate The Opening camp at 6-3+ 275 and felt I was watching a less polished version during the camp. Johnson was able to pop off the line and then swim move past the guard or center before they were out of their stance. Playing him at the 3, i4, 5, and 7 like Lynch will be fun to watch.D'Marion Alexander is bouncy. I mean, non-stop energy bouncing across the field. If I nicknamed him, it would be Tigger from Winnie the Pooh for his bounding. He'd run at LB and after the player instead of running back to position he'd leap back to the position. At DE he'd do his rep and take 4-5 leaps after and bound back to the line. Saying this, his athleticism is off the charts and where he ends up is anyone's guess from LB to DE. He has the athleticism to play DE, but do you put the 6-3+ athlete at RUSH or does he continue to grow and you have a 6-5 DE or 6-5 OLB or 6-5 RUSH. Possibilities are pretty much mouth watering for his future.Brooks Harris out of West Monroe is comparable to Bryson Daily, but 2-3 inches taller and longer. Harris started out at safety and Snow soon sent him to Siravo who put him through the paces of LB drills. He did well enough to earn an offer and should be one to watch.2022 Denton Guyer LB/DE Vincent Paige is physically impressive and has a frame to continue to grow. He ran by after Siravo pulled him from the DE portion of camp just smiling. Paige seemed pretty pleased with the offer as well and SicEm365 will be reaching out for a full interview soon.
