Baylor (4-1) looks to rebound after its first loss of the 2021 football season when it faces West Virginia (2-3) on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT inside McLane Stadium.

Baylor — QB Gerry Bohanon

With the uptick in competition, Bohanon has shown some growing pains. West Virginia will bring the heat on defense this weekend, and the margin for error will be slim. Bohanon needs to let 'er rip on Saturday while having his head on a swivel. Establishing the passing game early and often is critical to avoiding a repeat of last week's first half.

West Virginia — Quarterback Jarret Doege 

Throughout his career, Doege has been prone to inconsistency and turnovers, similar to Spencer Sanders. Take last Saturday, for example. His first drive interception and third drive sack-fumble directly led to Tech's early 14-0 lead. Then, in the second half, the Texas native led four scoring drives to tie the game at 20 before falling to a late field goal. Backup Garrett Greene will be involved too, but a lot will ride on which version of Doege shows up against the Bears defense.

WVU Hasn't stopped the vertical passing game all day. Why you go back to throwing horizontal and run plays all of a sudden is beyond me. Points on that drive probably seals the game.

Yep we had the wind also and going for it on fourth would not have hurt us if we didn't make it

Fair point, but with WVa getting the ball back after halftime, you could theoretically be down to only an 11-point lead if they have an opening half score.

It's just odd to get so conservative with really good field position, time, and timeouts in that situation.

Agreed. I wanted to see us attack there. One more score before the half effectively ends the game.

But WVU's offense is so bad, I understand not wanting to make a game-changing mistake. Especially with the Mountaineers getting the ball out of the half.

Our D has 3 sacks and our O has given up none.
1 INT, but given up none.
Biggest deal to me, only one penalty and it was ticky tack by the refs.

It's worth the risk. They come out and score here to make it an 11 point game then it looks even worse. 18 point lead is great! But there was no reason to not try to at least get into FG position. Playing conservative the rest of the game is a horrible idea. We got to stay aggressive. Go for the jugular
