Baylor Men’s Tennis Announces 2022 Schedule
WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis head coach Michael Woodson announced the 2022 schedule for the Bears on Tuesday.
BU will host 12 matches and travel for nine in the spring. Baylor will also play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend with hopes to advance to ITA National Indoors, and will play in the Big 12 Championship hosted by TCU.
Baylor men’s tennis looks to make its 24th-consecutive NCAA Tournament bid in 2022.
“We are really looking forward to getting the spring season started,” said Woodson. “Our schedule is one of the toughest in the country by design, as student-athletes choose Baylor to compete alongside and against the elite in collegiate tennis. Our team has a unique blend of talent, experience and new faces that I’m confident will be ready for what will surely be a challenging slate. Our goal is always to prepare ourselves best for post-season play, and we feel the level of competition and travel that the spring presents will do just that. We cannot wait to get started. January 14th is just around the corner.”
The January slate starts off with Baylor hosting Louisiana and Abilene Christian on Jan. 14, then SMU on Jan. 17. The Bears then travel to Nebraska to face the Huskers on Jan. 20. Back in Waco, BU hosts Boise State on Jan. 23. Baylor will be one of 15 host sites for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, playing William & Mary on Jan. 30, then either Clemson or Miami on Jan. 31.
February starts strong with hosting Texas on Feb. 4. Next up on Feb. 6 are Idaho State and Incarnate Word. Tulsa comes to town on Feb. 11, then powerhouse Virginia sees BU on Feb. 12. ITA National Indoors is from Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash. The Bears will look to advance to Indoors through ITA Kickoff Weekend. Baylor finishes off the month at Oklahoma on Feb. 27.
For March, the Bears are on the road for the majority of the month. They travel to Illinois on March 4, then will be in Arizona to face Arizona State on Mar. 9 and Arizona on March 12. BU then travels to take on Michigan on March 20. They return to Texas to face TCU in Fort Worth on March 25.
Big 12 play is served up in April, beginning on the road at Texas on April 1. Then Baylor will host TCU on April 3, Oklahoma State on April 8, and Oklahoma on April 10. The Bears go to Lubbock to face Texas Tech on April 16 to finish off the regular season, and then they head into the Big 12 Championships April 22-24 in Fort Worth.
