Former Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd (6-4, 240) will transfer to Baylor. Hurd made a visit to Waco two weekends ago to meet with the Baylor coaching staff. The versatile prospect also took visits to California, Ohio State and Louisville in recent months.

With two years to play a single season, Hurd will be eligible to play for the Bears in 2018 after sitting out the upcoming 2017 season. After playing running back at Tennessee, Hurd is expected to play a variety of different positions for the Bears on the offensive side of the ball including tight end.

In three seasons with the Volunteers, Hurd rushed for 2,638 yards and 20 touchdowns on 589 carries while adding 492 yards and six touchdowns on 67 receptions.

As a sophomore in 2015, Hurd rushed for a career-high 1,288 yards and 12 touchdowns. The career season came on the heels of a freshman campaign where he rushed for 899 yards and five touchdowns on 190 carries.

As a junior in 2016, Hurd participated in seven of Tennessee's 13 games before announcing his intentions to transfer from the program. He rushed for 451 yards and three touchdowns on 122 carries.

Hurd registered 11 100-yard rushing games in 33 career games and notched a single game career high 151 yards against Missouri in 2015.

Hurd signed with Tennessee out of  Hendersonville (TN) Beech High School as a four-star prospect and Army All-American. He was considered the No. 40 prospect nationally in the 2014 class.

Hurd committed to Tennessee out of high school over offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Stanford among others.
