No. 7 Baylor (11-2) will face No. 8 Ole Miss (10-2) in the All-State Sugar Bowl on Saturday evening in New Orleans at 7:45 p.m. CT inside the Superdome.

Quote of the week...

Dave Aranda: “I think the bowl gives us an opportunity to show who we are. I think there is a stage there. There is a platform that we can -- whether it's people we interact with at the hotel, it's the people that are on our plane, it's the fans that are coming to see us, it's all the people that are going to be watching on TV, it's going to be an introduction to Baylor University. It's going to be an introduction to Baylor football and then to all of our last names in terms of not so much what we do, but how we do it and in terms of what drives us. I think that comes out. And so we want to put our best foot forward in regards to that.”

Craig Smoak’s Players to Watch

Ole Miss — Quarterback Matt Corral

As Dave Aranda said earlier this week, Corral is the engine in the Ole Miss attack and a winner. This Saturday will be Corral's finale before hearing his name called as perhaps the top quarterback selection in April's NFL Draft. A true dual-threat, the junior has over 3,300 yards passing and 20 touchdowns with an additional 11 scores and nearly 600 yards rushing. Baylor's defense thrives on turnover opportunities, but Corral has thrown just four interceptions this year.

Baylor — Quarterback Gerry Bohanon

The starting quarterback position is impossible to snub in this game as Bohanon returns from a hamstring injury that cost him the last ten quarters of play. It would have been fun to see what would have happened if Blake Shapen was available, but Bohanon got the party started and now fittingly has a chance to turn off the lights in sweet style. Aranda sounded confident in Bohanon's ability to move around, which is a plus, but he'll need to keep it clean and sharp in the passing game. It's been a while since he's seen a live-action opposing defense.

Will we finish top 5 this year? ND lost. Do we jump
Cincy?

Watch, Cinn will be ahead of us due to having only 1 loss. Would not be surprised if Ok St jumps us for beating ND!!!

That's a distinct possibility and OSU jumping us too, but who gives a chit, we are 12-2 with a Big 12 & Sugar Bowl Championship!!

SVP did pretty decent, starting with the Sugar Bowl

SVP is always great. He seemed more genuine about Baylor's season than McElroy. McElroy just using generic wordspeak.

That's a very good way to describe it.

Speaking of the McPlay…anyone notice who made the block that sprung the Pick 6?

So before the Big 12 championship this place was completely hating on Shapen and EVERYONE wanted Gerry back for the game… do people finally realize Shapen is the future and Gerry does NOTHING better than Shapen.. and if we want to take it to the next level Shapen has to be the guy? Or are there still doubters?

*** are you even talking about? Can't you even enjoy one win???

Pay that man! This is what Baylor football should be! Class of 93, CDA is best representative of the BU I attended, substance over style...

Some of you need to go back and read your posts in the first half of the game questioning Bohanon, Aranda, Grimes and others.

Without a doubt one of the most brilliant defensive games I've seen in years.

I stand by my posts. GB is not a P5 QB. CDA and the D were magnificent. I even have no problem with Grimes calls. As I said before the game Shapen is a better QB and GB makes us one dimensional. GB is better suited for a back up role. Shapen is the future of that position. I do not know a lot about Drones, can he throw? Can't play top 10 teams one dimensionally on a consistent basis.

Shapen is unknown as far as strength. No question Shapen is the future but I hate to see him running. He reminds me so much of Briles QB's getting killed by defenses. In spite of his injury Bohanon is just tough as nails.

RGlll in his Frosh year. I was thinking of Russell and Stidham back then and more recently Brewer. I was comparing Shapen's unknown strength to those guys.

Gerry is so big and physical. He's like having another running back in the backfield. I don't worry about contact injuries with him any more than I do someone like Abram Smith.

I am afraid that Shapen is going to Charlie Brewer himself if he's not careful. He needs to learn to slide and run out of bounds.

Brewer was recruited by Rhule.

if you cared about either team, that is true. For many if not most casual watchers, 3 quarters with no offense is boring.
