Ishmail Wainright heavily considering playing football for Baylor
Former Baylor basketball Ishmail Wainright is heavily considering playing tight end for the Baylor football team in the 2017 season, SicEm365 has learned. Wainright played four years of basketball under Scott Drew and would have one season of eligibility to play football under Matt Rhule.
A second source familiar with the situation confirmed that Wainright "might" be part of Baylor's football program, but did not provide specific details.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound forward averaged 5.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists for the Bears during their run to the Sweet 16 in the 2016-2017 season.
Wainright would be the second former Baylor basketball player to make the move the football field, following current Dallas Cowboy Rico Gathers. Gathers was drafted by the Cowboys in the 6th round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
