No. 8 Baylor dropped by No. 10 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse 83-59
No. 8 Baylor suffered its first road loss in conference play against No. 10 Kansas in Lawrence 83-59.
Allen Fieldhouse is a perennial program killer in college basketball, and that was no different today. The Bears started ahead 2-0, but it was all Jayhawks from that point — literally.
The first half was grueling. Past that 2-0 start, Kansas outscored Baylor 39-19 for the remainder of the 20 minute period. That’s a run wihtin itself. The home team put in on. Baylor shot just 8-31 to start and 2-14 from deep. A 10-0 deficit in points off turnovers and 28-10 in points in the paint didn’t help.
The second half was much of the same. Scott Drew got a technical. Things were that bad. Moreover, rather than igniting a fire within the Bears, the team took a nosedive.
In all, the Bears shot 21-71 for the game. Baylor missed 50 shots. Drew’s squad finished 7-27 from deep. Rebounds favored Kansas by nine, paint points by 22 and shooting perfentage by 22%. That's no recipe for success.
Kansas defends its court and wins 83-59.
On to Kansas State in Manhattan Wednesday. It’s not easy, but it's not Allen.
