IRVING, Texas – Baylor softball freshman Kaci West has been named the Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

West tossed the first perfect game in Baylor softball history last week in the Bears’ 9-0 victory over Prairie View A&M. She struck out five batters in five perfect innings of work, getting out of many full-count batter situations and making plays defensively.

The freshman from Liberty, Texas, also went a career-high 5.1 innings later in the week when BU faced Texas A&M Corpus Christi, recording a career-high six strikeouts.

Now 3-0 on the year, West has 2.41 ERA with two complete-game shutouts. She finished with a 0.68 ERA during the week, the second-best in the Big 12.

This is Baylor’s first Big 12 pitcher of the Week award since March 16, 2021, when Aliyah Binford picked up the honor. Baylor softball has previously had 43 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week awards since 1997.
