Baylor Softball Shuts Out Texas State on the Road, 3-0
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Baylor softball picked up its fifth shutout this season as it defeated Texas State, 3-0, on the road Wednesday night at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
The Bears came to play, scoring a run in three different innings, with the first coming in the top of the first. After McKenzie Wilson led off with a double, she moved up on a bunt from Taylor Strain and scored on a groundout to give Baylor the early 1-0 lead.
Behind a solid defense, the Bears held the Bobcats to a three-up, three-down inning in the second and third.
BU tacked on another run in the top of the third, as freshman Kaci West scored on an RBI groundout from Sydney Collazos.
Capping the scoring, West led off the fifth inning with her second home run of the season.
The Bobcats threatened in the sixth, with runners on second and third, but Aliyah Binford struck out the last batter of the inning to snuff out the threat.
The Bears held Texas State to four hits on the night, with Binford and starter Dariana Orme combining for eight strikeouts, four apiece, and issuing no walks.
