'6 Pack of Bear': Tyquan Thornton ready to bring the 305 to the 254

Even with social media serving as an avenue of virtual reality and teleconferencing, committing to a Power 5 program sight unseen isn't a common act in recruiting. With that said, Baylor was fortunate to land the commitment of Tyquan Thornton back in March. The wide receiver from Booker T. Washington High School in Miami committed to the Bears on March 29, a week after landing the offer.

The common denominator with this current class is speed. Thornton fits the bill, as he is looking to not only play football but also run track in Waco. He's run the 100 meters in 10.5 seconds and the 200 in 21.2. He also has run the 400 in under 47 seconds.

The hard part now will be keeping the 6-foot-3, 165-pound athlete committed. Georgia -- which is a lot closer to home -- offered the speedster roughly two weeks ago. However, after speaking with Thornton in the latest "Six Pack of Bear" session, it will take a lot for a program to change his mind -- even with him never stepping foot on the Baylor campus.

BAYLOR'S CLASS IS UP TO 11 WITH KALON BARNES COMMITTING THURSDAY. THE GROWTH IS REAL. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT?
"I'm very excited to be able to play with a great group of guys. I'm from Miami, and most of them are from Texas. I know they go hard in Texas. I'm very excited to play with those guys."

BEING FROM MIAMI, YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO PLAY CLOSER TO HOME. WHY BAYLOR?
"I feel like Baylor fits me. I'm more like a deep threat, and I know what they do. They have a fast tempo, and I like that."

YOU REP THE 305. WHAT'S THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLORIDA BALL AND TEXAS BALL?
"Texas ball, I don't really know too much about. I just know there are a bunch of guys out there who can play. Florida ball, I can't really explain it. It's tough down here. As a receiver, you've got to work for what you want. My ninth- and 10th-grade years, I wasn't a starter, but every time the ball came my way, I had to make something happen. There are no handouts in Florida. You've got to earn everything."

EVERYONE SEEMS TO TRULY LIKE COACH RHULE. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF HIM?
"He's a nice guy. We have conversations all the time. He's been wanting to get me up there, and I'm ready to get there."

ASIDE FROM FOOTBALL, WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE ABOUT BAYLOR?
"Baylor's a nice school. I like the fans; everybody's been showing me love. I really know what I can do at this school."

WHAT WILL THE FANS GET OUT OF TYQUAN THORNTON?
"They're going to get what they want. If they want a show, I'll give them a show."
