Baylor (16-15, 2-7) travels to San Marcos to take on Texas State (24-9, 9-3) in a massive midweek contest.

LEADING OFF

• Baylor rounds out its five-game road stretch Tuesday at No. 19 Texas State, looking to snap a four-game skid.

• BU currently sits in seventh place in the Big 12 standings at 2-7 in conference play, with 5 Big 12 series remaining.

• The Bears continue to turn double plays at a high rate, leading the Big 12 and ranking second nationally with 35 total twin killings and 1.13 per game.

• BU has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of its last 10 games, and have notched at least three XBH in 13 games this season.

• Sophomore OF Jared McKenzie has been on an absolute tear of late, batting .468 (29-for-62) since the second game of a doubleheader on March 12. 12 of McKenzie's 29 hits have gone for extra bases and he has driven in 19 runs across those last 18 games.

• McKenzie's 18-game on-base streak is a career high.

• Senior LHP Tyler Thomas leads the Big 12 and ranks 42nd nationally with a 1.97 ERA. He also ranks second in the league with a 6.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 0.89 WHIP.

• Current members of the weekend rotation (Tyler Thomas, Kobe Andrade, Will Rigney) boast a combined 3.07 ERA.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Baylor leads the all-time series 54-26 over Texas State.

• Under seventh-year head coach Steve Rodriguez, the Bears are 5-3 against the Bobcats.

• BU claimed the most recent meeting on March 30, 2021, by a final of 4-2 in Waco.

• The last time the two sides squared off in San Marcos, Baylor won a 17-5 contest by run-rule in seven innings on April 24, 2018.

• The Bears are 5-5 against ranked opponents in 2022, with wins over No. 23 Duke, No. 23 UCLA, No. 7 LSU and No. 21 TCU.

• This would be BU's first ranked win this season in a true road game.
