WACO, Texas – Erika Porter a transfer forward from the University of Illinois, gave her commitment to the Nicki Collen and the Baylor women’s basketball program on Thursday.

The talented 6-foot-3 forward from West Windsor, NJ, averaged 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 13.0 minutes per game as a Sophomore in 2021-22. She shot 52.2% from the field and 57.4% from the free throw line last year, while also averaging 1.9 fouls per game over her 23 games. Porter had a standout performance against Wisconsin in early March, registering career-highs in points (15) and minutes (34).

As a Freshman, Porter played in 17 games with averages of 2.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 8.2 minutes per game. Her shooting splits that year were 52.4% from the field and 73.7% from the charity stripe with a rather limited sample size.

At Notre Dame High School (N.J.), she was a 1,000 point scorer and grabbed 792 rebounds in her career.

Whenever we all finish beating our chests and organize this basketball game of Lady Bear fans/posters, count me in. You'll find I'm quite bad at basketball, but it still sounds like a fun time.

I'm glad to read it is a challenge to a bb game and not fisticuffs behind the gym.

I might pay to watch

Y'all too sensitive. There was no personal attack by Blues Bear on the new transfer. He just asked is the hype justified.

He's probably wrong but there was nothing wrong with his post.

If you haven't listened to the interview with Bella Fontleroy, it's just about a must-do.

I listened to Bella, Aijha and Jana's. Really enjoyed the interviews and I'm exciting about next year. Can't wait for the next interview to drop.

Bella is a charmer !!! Like my Grandfather was fond of saying - "she could charm a cat down from a tree"
Aijah wore me out with all her moving around. The players I have talked too all say that is vintage Aijah - she never stops moving - her motor NEVER stops !!!
Jana's comment on Carrington was very revealing to me - DC never played for Nicki but she has had very positive things to say about her Baylor experience and Nicki.

Should have asked that question in a PRIVATE MESSAGE that's what it's there for

So, I'm struggling with all this hype so far. She barely played for a team that finished 1-11 in Conference last year...

If this a case of a really good player being stuck in the wrong system or coach just needs to fill roster spots....

I don't see the impact/value...
I'm late to the part as I have been busy dealing with work and some family health issues for a while but this transfer is mostly for depth purposes IMO. Not every player is going to be a starter that eats up minutes. Until Nicki can bring in more recruits we need some depth in the meantime.

We needed post depth. badly, and she provides that plus CNC said that she brings athleticism, defense and potential to the table. . She likes her potential and I believe in the staff's ability to judge talent. At the very least she brings depth, defense, and athleticism. I expect she will preform at a higher level than she did last year. BTS she averaged almost 2 blocks a game in 13 minutes.
