82 Days till Kickoff: The National Rank of Baylor Football's All-Time Winning Percentage

As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!

Baylor Football’s all-time winning percentage of .514 puts the Bears at 82nd out of 131 qualifying teams with a minimum of 100 division one games played (via Winsipedia). Baylor’s record is 621-587-44. That ranking puts the Bears just behind Texas State and Ball State, but in front of North Carolina State and South Carolina.

The green and gold have the 7th best all-time winning percentage in the Big 12, 48th out of the 64 Power 5 teams, and ahead of former SWC foe SMU.

For reference, Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and Boise State are the top 5 (in that order) ranging from .731 to .728. The bottom 5 programs are UTEP, Kent State, Charlotte, Georgia State and FIU ranging from .398 to .342.

Before this past 12-2 year, the best record in program history, Baylor’s all-time winning percentage was .492 with a record of 609-585-44. That means the 2021 season was good for an all-time percentage bump of .01, so Baylor football got 0.1% better last year in a certain sense. For a program that has been around since 1899, one season still making one one-thousandth of a difference is impressive to me.

Hi Jack,

Dont have a calculator next to me,but look at the winning percentage as a batting average. .492 = 492 ba

in 2002 our batting average moved to 514, which is in Mickey Sullivan range.

Big difference between hundredths and thousands.
