As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Tate Williams is a redshirt freshman and has three years of eligibility remaining past this season. Williams will have the opportunity to sit behind one of the most experienced offensive lines in college football in 2022. He made the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2021 and is planning on being a business major.
Although Williams redshirted the 2021 season, he was ranked a four-star offensive lineman coming out of Wall High School according to 247. As a senior, Williams racked up 73 pancakes and was graded at 91%. He also made contributions on defense, recording 16 tackles, 6 TFL, and two QB hurries. The Wall native anchored an offensive line that averaged more than 239 yards per game. As a junior, Williams had 65 pancakes and was graded out at 94%. He also played basketball and threw for the track and field team. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football ranked him as the No. 2 offensive guard in the state and the No. 37 overall player in the Lone Star State. He committed to Baylor over TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech.
