47 Days till Kickoff: Most Rushing TDs in a Single Season (47) in 2013

In 2013, the Bears rushed for a single-season program record of 47 touchdowns. 

Lache Seastrunk was the featured back on the 2013 squad. He had eleven rushing touchdowns and seven 100-yard games on the season. He was First-Team All-Big 12 and was 20th in the nation with 107.0 yards per game.

He earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the 73-42 blowout victory over West Virginia, where he ran for a career-high 172 yards and two TDs, including an 80-yarder, featured below. He totaled 156 rushing yards and a touchdown against Buffalo on only ten carries and 78 yards in the historic win over No. 23 Texas to clinch Baylor’s first-ever Big 12 title. 

Shock Linwood, Seastrunk’s complementary back, was arguably one of the best non-starting running backs in the country. Linwood totaled eight touchdowns and 881 yards during his redshirt freshman season in 2013. When Seastrunk missed two games with an injury late in the year, Linwood flashed his brilliance with a 180-yard plus performance in the victories against Oklahoma and Texas Tech.

After 2013, Linwood would go on to play three more seasons in Waco. He now holds BU records for rushing yards (4,213), career rushing TDs (36), and points scored (222).

Baylor’s backfield depth during the 2013 season was incredible. Backups Glasco Martin (7) and Devin Chafin (4) also combined for eleven touchdowns.

Although he was fifth on the team in rushing yards (209), the actual leading touchdown rusher on the team was the starting quarterback, Bryce Petty. With Baylor’s high-octane offense spread out wide, Petty had plenty of opportunities to take it into the endzone himself, which he did fourteen different times on the season.

Backup quarterback Seth Russell also contributed three rushing touchdowns of his own.
