Gotta appreciate this honesty. I certainly do. It's a needed first step.
In the Web: What "They" are saying about Baylor in Week 12
After getting boat raced by K-State at home last week, Baylor (6-4, 4-3) has an opportunity to right the ship this week on a national scale as arch-rival No. 4 TCU (10-0, 7-0) heads to Waco for Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff. The Bears have dropped their past two games against the Frogs, and haven’t defeated them in Waco since the infamous 61-58 game in 2014.
Despite the recent struggles against TCU, Vegas expects a tight game at McLane Stadium on Saturday morning.
While the Frogs have been able to come away unscathed this season, it’s been an absolute battle at times. TCU has had to rely on their second half resiliency multiple times this season, including last week in Austin with a 17-10 victory against the Horns.
Baylor on the other hand has been inconsistent all season long and has yet to find its true identity as a team.
Here is a look at the analytics heading into Saturday.
One unavoidable topic heading into Saturday is the attendance issues at McLane Stadium. Last week was a glaring example of the struggles within the generational gap of the fanbase and how they perceive what a gameday environment is supposed to be.
It shed light on the difficulties facing the administration to appease everyone in an awkward attempt to fill the stadium, and the historical lack of embracing the community of Waco and Central Texas by Baylor University.
Despite the outcome on Saturday, the Frogs have already punched their ticket to the Big 12 Championship at AT&T Stadium. Baylor has an outside shot of making it, especially if they upset TCU, but it’s honestly not likely.
Here is a look at some of the current bowl projections for where Baylor could end up.
ATHLON: Texas Bowl (Dec. 28)
Tie-In: Big 12 vs. SEC
Projection: Baylor vs. Arkansas
HEARTLAND: TEXAS BOWL
Baylor vs Kentucky
Baylor still has a chance to move up on the bowl list, but they certainly have their work cut out for them. I thought this team could get back to a big-time bowl game, but this has looked more and more like a rebuilding year for the Bears after losing so many great players last year.
